We were pleased to welcome Fr. Thornton to our English III classrooms today for a thoughtful discussion on what it means to be human. His visit connected directly to themes from the class's first literary unit: Humanity. Thank you, Fr. Thornton, for supporting our students.

Today in Ms. Warne's physics class students were expanding their knowledge of position vs time graphs through real world modeling. Using a motion detector to track their position relative to the origin, students modeled a PT graph through a walking motion.

🏫 Last night, we welcomed parents to OGHS for our High School Open House!

The evening began with an opportunity to hear from our new principal, assistant principal, chaplain, and director of counseling as they shared more about the year ahead and the ways we work together to support our students.

Parents then stepped into their students’ shoes—following their child’s schedule, visiting each class period, and meeting the teachers who will be part of their journey this year. 📚

We know our students are at their best when families and school work together. We are grateful to all the parents who joined us and to our faculty and staff for making the evening such a great start to that partnership.

🎉📚 A Great Start to the Year at OGHS!

The new school year is officially underway! Yesterday, we welcomed our newest students during Freshman Orientation, giving the Class of 2030 a chance to get acquainted with OGHS and prepare for their high school journey.

Today, we were excited to welcome all of our students back for the first day of school! We also came together as a school community to celebrate Mass with Fr. Thornton, our new OGHS chaplain. 🙏✝️

Hoeke, who was previously the superintendent at Oldham-Ramona-Rutland School District in eastern South Dakota, is the new principal at O’Gorman High School in Sioux Falls.
