For many, the Acton Children’s Business Fair is where that first spark begins. 💡

Over her years at Acton, Ailee has developed two business ideas and learned how to adapt along the way. She pivoted from healthy cookies to Wearable Words, using feedback and experience to shape a stronger business.

Through the E-Ship Quest, Acton learners prepare with hands-on, gamified lessons in business math, economics, market research, branding, and sales pitches. Then they put their learning into action with real customers.

Meet Future Shark Melia. 🦈✨

In 2025, Melia won the Kids’ Choice Award for her business, Melia’s Radiant Resin.

Her products? Resin keychains and other colorful resin creations, with most keychains priced around $3–$4 and special items up to $10.

Melia had already sold some keychains before the fair, helping cover part of her startup costs. She also planned to pay her parents back as she earned more from her business.

That’s the kind of thinking young entrepreneurs practice at the Acton Children’s Business Fair.

Melia promoted her business through her mom’s page and by telling family and friends. When asked how she would know her business was a success, her answer was simple:

“Having fun!”
