Grocery shopping as a life skill...
🟡 Understanding how foods are classified so they can be found by reading the signs above the aisles
🟢 Knowing how to read the price for the object (sometimes the price is below the item, above the item, or the item may be in the wrong spot)
🟣 Is there a budget? A list? Prior preparations?
🟠 Arrangements made to get to the grocery store?
🔵 Online shopping - Understanding how much a quantity is that they are purchasing (do you need a 2lb bag of potatoes or a 10lb bag of potatoes?)
When you think of just those few examples, grocery shopping actually takes a lot more work than what may be second nature to some of us. I'd love to work with your loved to gain those independent life skills.

School is back in full swing, which likely means that so is a new routine. Does this new routine need to include helping your teen or young adult navigate what it would look like to become independent?
✅What are your goals for post graduation?

⏰ Don't wait until April or May to start working on those independent skills. Let's narrow them down now.

This past weekend in NC at the Special Needs Expo was so much fun. A favorite part of it was having the opportunity to listen to Temple Grandin speak. I love how her mom believed in her & knew she could succeed. ❤️
Having children with significant learning disabilities can be challenging to navigate - but please know that you are not alone.
If you are looking for someone to help teach your adolescent or young adult those life skills to help them succeed - dm me or checkout my website at www.letseduhake.com

Super excited to be traveling to NC to a special needs conference in a few days. I will be learning more about re-wiring the brain & equipping the minds of neuro-divergent learners (Autism, Down Syndrome, PANDAS, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, just to name a few). This conference is bringing in key note speakers to also discuss Dyslexia/dysgraphia, how to pick out curriculum for the homeschooling families that have a child with special needs, and how to handle big emotions.
Stay tuned for some fun facts learned at this 2 day conference!

IEPs. As a parent, they can be extremely overwhelming to sit through and hear the things your child may not be the best at.
If you are wanting that additional support during those meetings, a listening ear, someone who knows what kind of accommodations and modifications to ask for - I'm here for you.
I've been on both sides of the table; having that additional person who understands what is being said can be helpful in those meetings.

The 'aftermath' of a math lesson ☺️ Hands-on. Variety of ways to reiterate the lesson. The student and I both writing/working through the problems instead of me watching the student (this helps them be less nervous).
📸Things I couldn't capture in the photo but happened:
👀 The way the student's face lit up after getting a new concept.
👂 "I can't believe I just knew that so quick!"
👂When the lesson was over and the student said "already?! That was fast!"
Do you have a loved one with special needs that needs additional support to reach those goals in life skills, social skills, or academic skills? I'd love to be of help. Check out my website at www.leteduhake.com or dm me.
