Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools Facebook User Guidelines
The Mater Dei Catholic School page is provided for the school community by Mater Dei School. We will update this page as often as possible to share as much as we can about Mater Dei and the achievements of the students and staff as well as other relevant community information. This Mater Dei School page was created to help us build a
nd share our Mater Dei Pride! All posts and comments should be made with that thought in mind. All posting of comments on this page are at the discretion of the page administrators. The intent of this policy is not to keep any negative or critical information from being posted, but to protect the privacy and rights of Mater Dei School staff and students. The page administrators will review all postings to make sure they do not violate the Mater Dei Catholic School Acceptable Use Guidelines regarding internet access and practices. People making comments on this page are requested to show respect for their fellow users by ensuring the discussion remains civil, especially since Facebook allows individuals age 13 and over to join. Comments are also subject to Facebook’s Terms of Use and Code of Conduct. (https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms)
We welcome your thoughts and comments and look forward to what you have to say. However, we will not leave postings that:
• Are made by someone under age 13. School staff will report violations of this Facebook policy when discovered. Younger students can view the district fan page through their parents’ or guardians’ accounts and with their supervision.
• Place any student or staff member in harm’s way. We ask all users to refrain from posting “place and time” information about our students and staff. For instance, do not post a photo of a student on a field trip to the zoo while the child is still at the zoo. Do not “tag” or create posts using a student’s first and last name. Protecting children comes first.
• Break the law or encourage others to do so. This includes respecting copyright and fair use laws. If you are talking about somebody’s work, reference the original and where possible include a link.
• Contain abusive or inappropriate language or statements.
• Name students and /or staff in defamatory, abusive or generally negative terms.
• Do not show proper consideration for others’ privacy or are considered likely to offend or provoke others—i.e. don’t pick fights or goad others into inflammatory debates.
• Are advertising for companies or spam—i.e. posting the same comment or comments that are simply advertising/promoting a service or product.
• Rumors. If you don’t know it’s a fact, don’t post it.
• Are political in nature. The page administrators reserve the right to not post or remove any comments at any time, for any reason. If you have feedback or would like to report an inappropriate comment for us to review, send an email to [email protected]. All statements and viewpoints expressed in the comments are strictly those of the commenter alone, and so do not constitute an official position of Mater Dei Catholic School, unless they are posted by the original author (who is an authorized representative of the school).
