Today’s Senior Spotlight features Gwen Burnight, a four-year rep who was elected to be our Historian this year! As Historian, she is responsible for keeping and creating our Honor Council scrapbook, and she does other executive officer tasks as well.
•Gwen plans on attending the University of Iowa this fall.
•Her favorite memories are going to the Iowa Association of Student Councils Leadership conference every fall because
it’s a fun opportunity to meet other leaders and find new things to bring back to East. She looked forward to that weekend in Des Moines every year to bond with the other reps.
•She values her experience in StuCo because it helped her develop communication, leadership, and life skills. She adds, “The program is so special and has helped shape me into who I am.” 💕
•Gwen’s advice to underclassmen reps is to enjoy your time on the council and in high school in general. Make the most of your four years!
•If she could change anything, she would change the pandemic from taking away school dances.
•Her StuCo friends said: “Having Gwen as my team leader coming in made me feel so comfortable and welcome.” “She has been a great leader throughout the year!” “Gwen is such a kind and positive person.” “We can always count on her to do what she says she will. She is a hard worker!” “Gwen always has a smile on which turns any bad day into a good one!”
