Yesterday marked the official start of the 2026-2027 school year! Here are a few things to recap and remember as we kick off another great year:

💙Starting the Year Fresh: Laurie Dougherty, Enrollment Director, passed out a new notebook to each high school student to help everyone start the year fresh and organized.

What a wonderful start to the first day of school at Bishop Heelan Catholic School System! We are incredibly grateful for each and every one of our students and especially thankful for the families who choose Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools to be part of their child(ren)’s educational journey.

Kick off the new school year with BHCS HOOPLA!

All Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools families are invited to join us Wednesday, August 26 from 5:00–7:00 PM in the Bishop Heelan High School Crusader Courtyard for an evening of food, fun and fellowship.

Enjoy hamburgers and hotdogs, inflatables and activities for the kids, and plenty of time to meet and mingle with fellow BHCS families and staff.

Whether your family is brand new to BHCS or has been part of the Crusader community for years, we would love to see you there as we celebrate the start of another great school year together!

Bishop Heelan is learning and growing! ✨📚

This week, a team of teachers, principals, and school leaders from Bishop Heelan is attending the PLC at Work® Institute in Des Moines. They are learning from some of the nation's leading education experts about how strong Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) help schools collaborate, support students, and improve learning for all.

They are excited to bring back new ideas to strengthen our PLC work, continue growing as educators, and better serve our students. 💙💛
