Nykamp Violin Studio

Nykamp Violin Studio A home-based violin studio located one block from Sioux Center Christian and Kinsey Elementary. For adult students, I prefer Essential Elements 2000.

I offer beginning to intermediate-level lessons for students and adults. I use a variety of teaching books and materials based on the age and interests of the student. I use the Sassmannshaus method for young, beginning students, and String Explorers for older and intermediate students. As students advance, we work primarily with Suzuki materials and Applebaum's Building Technic with Beautiful Mus

ic. I have a music performance and pedagogy minor from Dordt College, where I majored in English: literature and also studied history. From 2008 to 2011, I worked at the Sioux Center News as news reporter. I also worked as a kitchen manager and later baker for the Fruited Plain Cafe in Sioux Center from 2011 to 2015. I am a member of the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra, and have performed with the Sioux County Oratorio Chorus chamber orchestra. I am a member of the American String Teachers Association, and the SooMar Music Club (a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs).
