After the Nest: What's Next?
For eighteen-plus years, I always knew what was next.
The next grade. The next milestone. The next karate level, school play, college visit. My purpose wasn't something I had to search for — it showed up every morning in the form of two kids who relied on me.
And then, one day, they didn't.
My kids left. And honestly? That part was everything I'd worked for. But what nobody warned me about was what happened when they did.
My community — the one built around school drop-offs, activity schedules, and the same group of moms I'd known for years — scattered. People moved. I was standing in a house that felt too quiet, wondering why I felt so completely untethered.
I wasn't depressed. I wasn't ungrateful. I just felt like I'd been laid off from the best job I'd ever had — with no idea what to do next.
I thought…Is this it? Is it over? Do I just wait to retire?
None of that felt right, so I went looking.
I found mentors. I read books. I took courses. I talked to women who had already gone through this and come out the other side with a life they actually loved. And slowly, I started building a picture of who I wanted to become in this next chapter.
Events happen. My kids grew up and left home — I couldn't change that. I could respond with resignation, or I could respond with intention.
I chose intention.
I got clear on what I actually wanted. Things I used to love — did they still fit me? Did I want to travel? Learn a new skill? What kind of friendships I was craving?
I rebuilt my community with friendships built on shared interests, not just shared school schedules. I rebuilt my sense of purpose around volunteer work and a job that felt more meaningful. I found my equilibrium again.
And then I thought about every woman who was still where I had been — spinning her wheels, feeling the loss, (or for some, relief) but not sure how to move forward — and I thought: what if she didn't have to spend years figuring this out like I did?
That's why I created Mom2.0 After the Nest. It's the framework I wish someone had handed me on day one — the best tools, distilled from everything I searched through, every book, conference, and hard conversation, built into a clear path forward.
Because you've already done the hard work of raising your people. You shouldn't have to waste time feeling lost.
You deserve a shortcut. Mom 2.0 After the Nest will be launching a new course and mastermind group this summer! We will let you know as soon as it’s live!
