In perfect timing of Indigenous peoples day we’ve made it to the era in the history of art where we are going to explore and be inspired by the materials, textures and techniques of indigenous tribes to Connecticut pre-colonization; some of which indigenous artists continue to use today.
We wanted to be very respectful as we explore this age of art so a lot of intention and research went into this week’s invitations. Big thanks to katy hitson!! We honed our research on the Pequot tribe native to Connecticut and we’re lucky to have the Pequot museum to share information with us and how to approach this important era of art in the most respectful way possible. We are so grateful to be inspired by this time period and truly hope you enjoy the discovering you are going to make this week.
You will find important write-ups around the studio at the various stations so you have information and best wording to use in discussion with your kiddos as your explore.
