Hey friends — it’s been a minute. 🤍

I’ve missed sharing tips and encouragement with you here. Between clinical work, mom life, and continuing education, life got full — but my heart for supporting families through feeding hasn’t changed.

This space is still about education, kindness, and encouragement — especially on days when feeding feels overwhelming or uncertain.

If you’ve got a question about latch, supply, pumping, or just wondering what’s “normal” — I’m here.

DM or comment below anytime.

Number 5 speaks volumes. I truly believe it is the most important aspect to breastfeeding. The first two weeks are the hardest because everything is new. Even if this is your second, third, or fourth child. It is still all new. So having a support system to help you navigate this new path can make or break your nursing relationship.

Whether your support system comes from family, friends or professionals, do not forget we are here to help. Hungry Baby Healthcare is here to help!

I always thought if breastfeeding did not work right away, that meant I could not breastfeed at all.

If you are reading this and you have heard or thought this as well, let me tell you a secret…THIS IS NOT TRUE! Breastfeeding is a skill baby can learn. They do not know how to do it immediately after being born!

But now you are trying to teach baby how to feed when maybe you do not know how baby should be feeding. This is where I come in. I can teach you how to feed your baby and troubleshoot when things aren’t going smoothly.

If you are interested in how I can help you through this or how to prepare for this, check out my blog post coming this Thursday 3/23 all about how to protect your milk supply when feeding at the breast is difficult right up front.

It is a natural process for your body to create milk! Let your body go through its natural course after birth by feeding your baby the milk you create!

This is easier said than done for most people though. It may be natural, but it is not always instinctual. If you are interested in breastfeeding your baby, learn all you can about the natural process. ☺️

Stay tuned for the dates of my upcoming prenatal lactation classes! Let’s get you ready to “flow with life” with confidence and support!

Happy IBCLC Day!

It took me so long to get to this point in my consulting journey and it has been so fulfilling. I am so thankful that you all have supported and trusted me this far. I look forward to continuing to educate myself, educate parents and help babies eat for all my years to come!

Thank you to all the other IBCLCs out there for all the work you do every day!

Have you ever felt like you were trying to fit into a standard that wasn’t YOUR standard?

How you feed your baby should not be standardized to either breastfeeding or formula feeding. There are so many options, so many combinations, so many tools to use to make feeding your baby work for you and your family.

Feel free to educate yourself on all of these options so you can choose the standard that IS right for YOU. Check out my Prenatal Feeding Consult where I ask you what you want, educate you on all the options, and we create a plan that is YOURS.

Have you ever felt like your b***s needed to look “perfect”?

I am sorry to say that I used to feel this way. I thought that round perky b***s were perfect. That’s what I thought made them beautiful and that is what I thought would yield the most milk for breastfeeding. But this is not the case!

ALL b***s are perfect. No matter their shape, size, or color.

Breasts technically do not fully develop until pregnancy. When those pregnancy hormones change your breast tissue, that is the final stage of development. This stage allows you to produce milk. So your breasts prior to pregnancy will not dictate your milk supply!

If you are interested in learning more about breast anatomy/physiology and how it affects lactation, see my blog post coming Thursday!

I am so pleased to announce that I have officially become credentialed through Aetna and are now in their network! If you have Aetna insurance and need a lactation consultant, reach out! Typically 1 prenatal and 5 postpartum sessions are covered. This would give us plenty of time to get you prepared, and tackle any issues that may arise after baby is born. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Has anyone ever explained the difference in all the breastfeeding positions? There are so many! They all have their pros and cons for when and where to use them. There are also lots of tips and tricks one can use to make each position more comfortable or effective for both mother and baby. So how are you supposed to learn these different tips, tricks, and techniques?

Classes can be wonderful! I host a prenatal lactation class where I go over these positions and all that goes along with them. But what happens when you get home after your baby is born, you can no longer remember all of these things and now you have a crying squirming baby who is not a doll? Things can get tricky. I know you will do your best, but this can be overwhelming!

So please remember at least one thing, some lactation consultants are here to work with you in your own environment. This is beneficial so that you can learn how to use what you actually have. You wont be feeding your baby in a classroom, or even in a hospital room with an adjustable bed and terrible pillows for very long. You will be home, in your own bed, with your own pillows, or in the nursery with a rocking chair that has wooden arms. Every persons situation will be different, so even after learning these positions in a crowded classroom, you will need someone to help you in your own home. One of the keys to breastfeeding is confidence. This will grow over time, but get a head start with some personalized help.

Tomorrow I will be hosting a class where I will go over all of these positions. The more times you learn something, the better it will stick in your mind. I hope to see you there!
