Today we honor Juneteenth, a significant day in American History. On this day in 1865 enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were finally informed of their freedom--over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed by President Abraham Lincoln. This day symbolizes the end of slavery in the United States and is a celebration of freedom, resilience, and African American culture. It serves as a time to reflect on the nation's history, honor the struggles and contributions of African Americans, and promote education and awareness about the ongoing journey toward equality and justice.
