Just as a follow up on alternator ,have got cover off ,is the metal box on side the built in regulator or is it the white plastic centre piece.
This is just to reiterate that the alternator goes from pegged at 16 + to dropping to 9 10 at load with lights it slowly moves between these two extremes .of course I could throw down another 150 bucks but I'm determined to get to the root of this as im sure others have faced same issue .if anyone can shed light on parts supplier ipleasen socal I'd appreciate this .budget wise with labour at 125 bucks an hour getting electrical professionals involved beats the point as I can get another for the same money if not less.thoughts

Question for all you electrical wizzkids, about to change the generator to alternator ,have the one off lizzie that I changed as it was charging but either at over 14v on Guage or under 10v .is this caused by the internal diodes and can they be replaced by a novice or should I just get a new one as this one was only maybe 18 months old .lizzies replacement has no problems so it is definitely the alternator .information or opinions please notrude comments .remember I am a cheapskate so answers appropriately.....
