Practicing cat spaying on our feline spay models before spaying live cats is vital to saving lives. Our Feline Spay Model features a very realistic female reproductive organ, including the region of cervix, uterine body, uterine horns, ovaries, ovarian arteries and veins, suspensory ligaments and membrane for realism. Also embedded in the model are the bladder and ureters, and colon. The model also helps trainees practice their suturing skills on the abdominal wall musculature and skin layers upon completion of the spay procedure. @ United Kingdom

Son 2 gün çok koşuşturmalı geçtiği için burada bulunma sebebimi detaylı yazamadım. Brüksel’de Eurogroup for Animals ve Avrupa Parlamentosu Finlandiya başkanlığı “strategies for innovation in Life Sciences” adlı sergi ve yuvarlak masa toplantısı düzenledi. Amaç, deneylerde hayvan kullanımını azaltmak olduğu kadar hayvan deneylerinden elde edilen anlamsız sonuçların önüne geçmek ve zaman ve para kaybını önlemek adına insan odaklı yeni tanı ve tedavi metotları geliştirmek.
Özellikle tıp ve veteriner fakültelerinde, eğitimde de hayvanların kullanıldığını biliyoruz. Sokaklardan toplanan köpekler üzerinde eğitim yapıldığına da tanık olduk maalesef. Bu fotoğrafta gördüğünüz critical care Jerry. Kan alınması için damarları, kırık bir kemiği, sağlıklı ve sağlıksız akciğer ve kalp sesleri var. Yine öğrenciler dikmeyi öğrensin diye kanayan yapay dokular bile yapmışlar. Ancak bazı “yenilikçi ve bilimsel” olmakla övünen üniversitelerimiz hala tavuk vücudu üzerinde öğrencilere dikiş yaptırıyor ve bu durumla övünüyorlar. Umarım ülkemize bu yöntemleri getirebiliriz fakat daha önemlisi insanlara bu bilimsel ve geçerliliği kanıtlanmış Avrupa ve ABD nin kullandığı yöntemleri kabul ettirebiliriz. Gelenekselciliği bırakıp, ahlak ve bilim doğrultusunda ilerlersek sokaktan hayvanların toplanmadığı ve şah damarlarının kesilerek eğitim verilmediği günleri görebiliriz.
