😨 Conflict can feel big and scary depending on what we grew up with.

Now it's your turn to dive deeper

Take a sheet of paper and fold it in half. Write down Good Conflict on one side and Bad Conflict on the other side.

Then answer these questions
❓What does good or bad conflict sound like?
❓What does good or bad conflict feel like?
❓What does good or bad conflict look like?

This can be INCREDIBLY insightful and useful in helping you to understand how you view and deal with conflict.

It's easy to fall back into our patterned states, even when we have done the work. Defensiveness, shutting down, and more can come on without us even realizing it.

But the first step is us recognizing how we view feedback and how we react to it.

Bad Conflict Can...
💥 increase stress
💥 decrease productivity
💥 make leaders shift to authoritarian style
💥 create high turnover
💥 lead to group think
💥 breakdown communication
💥 negatively impact collaboration
💥 increase judgments and stereotyping

Good Conflict Can...
⭐ be a source of inspiration
⭐ promote diversity and inclusivity
⭐ emphasize root cause and promote solutions
⭐ improve morale and engagement
⭐ lead to higher performance

How do you view feedback?

Follow for part three! 👍♥️

During the first 7 years of life, a child’s brain has the potential to activate 1,000 brain cells every second. 🤯

A child develops neuro pathways that define emotional regulation, boundaries, how to perceive threats, and what conflict looks and feels like.

📈 A study published in the Journal of Family Psychology tracking over 200 families discovered that early exposure to unresolved chronic conflict in the household directly alters a child's baseline stress response. This manifests as significantly higher rates of anxiety, depression, and poor interpersonal relationship skills well into adulthood.

On the other side of that, if you grow up with adults who navigate conflict in healthy ways, you develop skills that help you self regulate easier, deal with uncomfortable conversations, and so much more. 💛

We constantly reward bad behavior just because they are the highest performers, but what is it truly costing⁉️

💲 Lost revenue because employees around them do the bare minimum, high turnover, low company morale, and the list goes on.

So toxic....

09/29/2026

😬 Feedback often makes people feel exposed,
uncomfortable, anxious, or even defensive. Whether we’re giving it or receiving it, feedback can easily trigger fear, self-doubt, or miscommunication.

Especially in workplaces where trust is shaky or
expectations are unclear.

When feedback fails, people disengage, trust erodes, and performance stalls.

♥️ But when it’s done well and with clarity, emotional intelligence, and care then feedback becomes one of the most powerful tools we have for growth, innovation, and connection.

We dive DEEP into feedback in October. Why does it fail? How do we have effective feedback that leads to positive results? And more!

I had an absolute BLAST presenting and learning and connecting with so many amazing women at the Leadership Redefined Conference in Houston this month!

It’s incredible when so many powerhouse women come together to DO THE WORK and share in expertise to really disrupt and create space for a new way of being. Thanks to Shayla Atkins for being the mastermind behind it all. You have really created something beautiful. I look forward to next year.

We know the way we've been doing leadership isn't working. So why do we keep doing it?

If nothing changes, nothing changes.

But our culture is starting to recognize this and want to do something different moving forward.

What are you doing to help make this change? Comment below 👇

🐻 Our body doesn't know the difference between a bear and a spreadsheet!

This is one reason change can feel so hard.

Our nervous system can think that a team adjustment or a procedure adjustment at work can be life or death.

Understanding that as a leader is PARAMOUNT! You have the ability to address change in a way that helps those you lead to feel safe and ready for the adjustments.

This month is about Change Management in The Evolving Leader Fellowship. Check out The Fellowship from the link in my bio or the UnCourse book if you want to get your feet wet.
