ULGSO Salutes Iris Roley Among 2022’s Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame Awardees

The Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio is proud to honor Iris Roley on the occasion of her induction into the Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame today. “Iris Roley has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to justice in our community. She is a selfless community leader, and I’m proud to call her a mentor and a friend,” said Christie Kuhns, ULGSO President, and CEO. As a founding member of the Black United Front, Iris’s unwavering crusade for racial equity in Cincinnati helped establish the historic Collaborative Agreement. Mrs. Roley is also an alumna of the League’s African American Leadership Development Program (AALDP), Class 20.

We would also like to salute the other four prestigious recipients of this year’s Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame recognitions. Bishop Timothy J. Clarke (Columbus) and Justice Evelyn Lundberg Stratton (Worthington); also, Former State Senator John W.E. Bowen III (Franklin County) and disability advocate Dorothy O. Jackson (Akron), both posthumously. ULGSO acknowledges Ohio as a better place for the efforts of these pioneering civil rights champions.

2022’ Summer Program is OFF!
We are excited that this year the children will be learning
“ Real Life Skills”
We have our very own dave bleau who will be introducing ” Small Chef” a health choice culinary program for children. Teaching children how to choose and prepare snacks that feed the mind and belly!
We will also be attending “ swim day “ Pleasant Ridge Recreation Center where the children will learn the life skill of swimming with a trained professional.

We are bringing in the “ classy gentleman” where our young men will learn and develop life skills for todays times. We will have professional , successful, speakers whom which they can relate .

I just wanted to share a few down loads I was receiving on today ❤️ We are excited!

Fewer southwest Ohio child care providers are accepting vouchers from low-income families The number of southwest Ohio child care programs that accept Ohio's PFCC vouchers decreased 11% from December 2019 to December 2020, according to research conducted by the nonprofit organization 4C for Children.
