This is the public page of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp Fort Blakeley. This camp has a twofold objective as an organization. First, the preservation and celebration of the history of Fort Blakeley and the battle which bears it's name. Second, as a branch of the Sons of Confederate Veterans organization, its mission is to fulfill the charge given to our predecessors by Confederate General

We've been informed that "The Legend of Van Dorn" will premiere August 21st on Amazon Prime. This motion picture was filmed partly at Historic Elm Springs, The Athenaeum, and several other local sites.

This movie brings to life the legend of Confederate General Earl Van Dorn. This "legend" has been told locally for years, especially in terms of the tumultuous affair that left the handsome Confederate cavalier dead at the hands of a jealous husband in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

This movie has a great cast and the entire crew was a joy to work with; we remain glad that we were a small part of this project and we encourage you all to watch on August 21st!

I don’t need to tell or remind any of you of this but your membership in the SCV is very important, now more than ever! Please continue in the fight to defend the honor of your Confederate Ancestors! Reach out to your Commander or Adjutant should you have any questions or need assistance.

Attention Ft. Blakeley Compatriots!

The Gift Horse will not be open Tuesday, 8 Oct to host our meeting.

I have booked the meeting room at the Gulf Bowl in Foley. Their restaurant is the Captain's Table. Great food. Nice selection. Reasonable prices. No room charge. They are glad to have us.

Address. 2881 S. Juniper St. Foley, AL

We will meet at 6:00pm, same as our regular time. You will order from the menu, and it will be Dutch Treat. We will not be collecting your supper money. They accept credit cards, debit cards, checks, and cash.

Our speaker will be Compatriot Jim Corum – “Spanish American War Veterans and his Confederate Ancestors” It promises to be an interesting and informative program.

Please make every effort to attend.

Reminder: Sons of Confederate Veterans dues are due now. If you have not already submitted them, please do so as soon as possible. It is important that we retain 100% of our membership as we continue to lead the charge given to us. If you need to know how to submit your dues, please let us know and we can tell you the several ways that you can do so. As of this post, only around half of our members are current; time is running out.

Also, in order to stay current on what is happening at national, division, and camp levels please come to camp meetings.

This month we will be holder officer elections. These will be your officers for the next two years. Please attend and vote.

Also, we will be collecting for the William Green Veteran’s Home as well as a canned food drive for Ecumenical Ministries.

This month’s program will be “The Women’s Militia of LaGrange, Ga” presented by Lynn Corum.
