Attention Freshmen, Sophomores & Juniors! 🎉

Picture Day is Tuesday, September 8th! 📅 Pictures will be taken at school during the school day.

📷 All students need to have their picture taken—even if you are NOT purchasing pictures!

Student photos will be used for:
📖 Yearbook
🪪 Student IDs
💻 Infinite Campus
👩‍🏫 Staff members will also have their pictures taken on September 8th!

Picture packages will be distributed by advisory teachers on or before September 1st for families who would like to purchase photos.

Please make sure your student is ready for Picture Day on September 8th! We want every student and staff member represented in our yearbook and school records. 💙📸

Seniors and Senior Parents,

It’s time to schedule your Class of 2027 Senior Portraits! 🎉 Senior Portrait Day will be held at the school on Wednesday, September 9th.

📸 What to Expect:
Students will be photographed at school.
Tuxedos and drapes will be provided for the portraits.
Students will select their own appointment time using the scheduling link below.

Meet our new Nighthawks!

Meet Dusti Houk!

Ms. Houk comes to us from DES. She was the Assistant Principal for all those cute little Bobcats. She has decided to take on the challenge of being a high school Assistant Principal and work with some of the finest teachers and kids in Lyon County! Dusti has many years experience working at DIS and loves the energy teenagers display! She is also a huge sports fan-loves the San Fransisco Giants and the Las Angels Chargers. Dusti is a very proud Auntie and Great Auntie. She loves camping and supporting her nieces and nephews in all that they do. Welcome to SSHS, Ms. Houk!

Meet Amanda Stiles!

Mrs. Stiles lives in Fernley and just finished her student teaching at FHS. She will be teaching Social Studies. Amanda has lived all over the US, her husband spent 20 years in the Navy. She has two children, Patrick 11 and Noelle 4 who are both baseball players and Amanda loves supporting them on from the stands. She is from Washington therefore she cheers for the Seahawks and Mariners. And her favorite thing to do for herself is golf! We are excited for you to join our team, Amanda!

Meet Karen Pugh!

Ms. Pugh comes to us with much experience in the area of teaching English. She transferred from DHS. Karen has her Doctorate in Ed Tech and loves researching how to integrate AI into her classroom. She also has her degree in Administration may be subbing in the office when Administration is out. She also loves working out and staying in shape-watch out all you fitness peeps- you have a new partner in crime to workout with. Karen will be teaching English and a few WNC classes as well. SSHS is happy to welcome Karen to our school family.

Meet Pa Hernandez!

Mrs. Hernandez was born and raised in California. She is new to Nevada and loves how pretty it is out here. She is married with two boys-Luis 13 and Hector 6. She loves to try out new food, spending time outdoors and speaks 3 languages-Hmong, Spanish, and English! Pa will be taking over our CLS classes. We can't wait to see what you do for our students, Pa! Welcome!
