Summer time seems so close, yet so far! I am offering French summer care again this August so please take a few moments to look it over at your convenience and let me know if this is something you might be interested in.

Also, keep in mind that the weeks are available with the hopes that more than 2 students will be joining, however, I can accommodate no more than 5 students at once (unless everyone is willing to stay walking distance from the school, as I do not have a vehicle that can accommodate more than that).

A typical day involves going to the library each morning for around 2 hours to work on summer work, and reading. Then, we find a nice place to have lunch (typically in one of the many outdoor areas of downtown Silver Spring). After lunch we head over to whichever activity we decide on for that day.

My tentative schedule is as follows:
Week 1: July 30 - Aug 3
Week 2: Aug 6 - 10
Week 3: Aug 20 - 24
Week 4: Aug 27 - 31

If there is another week that you'd prefer and we can get a large enough group to participate, please let me know and I will be more than willing to accommodate you the best that I can! It is always more fun with a friend so I encourage you to extend the invite to any parent who might be interested in partaking in these activities with your little one(s)!

Please remember that if you choose to participate, each child will need to pack a lunch, a snack, a water bottle to refill as needed, sunscreen, and whatever summer work they need to complete. Everyone is also encouraged to bring shareable toys or games to play with together!

I hope everyone is staying safe and warm in this cold! It's never too early to think about the summer so here's something warm to think about.. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions!

Hello all! I have had such a great year with all of my students!! While I would love to be able to help more students on an individual level, there is just not enough time in one day.

That being said, I am in the process of obtaining a classroom at SCES to run this new program that I feel will be able to help more children without compromising their individual needs.

Please take a look at this flier and tell me what you think. This program should be up and running by October of this year but I will keep everyone posted on the exact date!

Bonjour!

As I continue to find new ways for children to expand their use of the French language, I wanted to introduce a new service I am offering. It is called French Dinner and a Movie! This group French experience is currently for students in grades 1-4 (flexible) and it will generally be held on 1 or 2 Fridays per month. Many have found this service helpful and so far every family has had great things to say about it!

If you have yet to partake in French Dinner and a Movie, this is a chance for you to have a night out for a date or to run errands. The general audience for this event has been 1st-4th graders but of course, all ages are welcome! As always, only French will be spoken under my watch which makes for a fun opportunity for children to practice their French outside of school, in a casual setting!

The evening entails music, crafts, board games, and a small library for those who like to read. I serve pizza and fruit for dinner while showing a movie of their choice. Children may bring a movie for everyone to vote on (as long as it can be played in French). Then, we like to enjoy some s'mores around a bonfire for dessert if the weather permits it! If not, there are plenty of activities to keep us busy!

The hours for the event are 5pm until 10pm in White Oak. Hours are flexible so if you need to drop off earlier or pick up a little later, that is quite fine. Just let me know.

In order for you to plan your evening, please consider the following estimate schedule we go by:

5:00 – 6:00: Arrival / Free Play (Inside or Outside)
6:00 – 6:30: Crafts / board games.
6:30 – 6:45: Clean up / Wash hands
7:00 – 8:30: Dinner + Movie
8:30 – 8:45: Clean up
8:45 – 10:00: Bonfire (weather permitting) / Free Play

The cost for the event is as follows:

• $12/hr for 1 child
• $18/hr for 2 children
• $21/hr for 3 children

The minimum stay is 2hrs and I will take on a maximum of 7 children at a time. In the event that more than 7 participants are interested, I will call upon an assistant to see if she can help, in which case, we will accommodate up to 12 participants.

If you are interested, please email me with a list of allergies/food restrictions, if any. The tentative date for the next event is Friday, November 20th. Also, if you could please include a rough estimate of drop off and pick up times, that would be very helpful as well.

If you are interested though unable to make it, I would be most grateful if you could share this post or email the details to anyone you feel might be interested in joining us. I love this event and we always have so much fun!
