As we look back on some favorite moments from last school year, we're revisiting one of our favorite traditions: class trips!

As our students grow, so do their adventures:
🌊 5th Grade explored the National Aquarium in Baltimore and enjoyed boat rides around the Inner Harbor.
🌳 6th Grade challenges themselves at Adventure Park.
🚣 7th Grade headed out for an exciting whitewater rafting trip.
🗽 8th Grade capped off their Silver Oaks journey with an overnight trip to New York City.

These experiences build confidence, strengthen friendships, and celebrate how much our students have grown.

Before we look ahead to a new school year, we're taking a look back at some of the moments that made the end of last year so special. 💚

First up: celebrating our 5th and 8th graders! 🎓 Our 5th graders are getting ready to make the move to Middle School, while our 8th graders said goodbye to Silver Oaks as they prepare for their next adventures. This fall, members of our graduating 8th grade class are heading to St. Andrew's Episcopal School, The Barrie School, The Avalon School, and Eleanor Roosevelt's Science and Tech Program.

We're so proud of both classes and can't wait to see what comes next! Congratulations, 5th and 8th graders. 🎉

♟️Checkmate! Silver Oaks recently welcomed students and families from across the area for The Knight School's bi-annual chess tournament hosted on our campus.

Congratulations to Deven and Dhruv, who each won their grade-level bands. We loved seeing our students put their skills into action and share their enthusiasm for chess with so many visiting players.

🦅 Congratulations to Henry, one of our outstanding 8th graders, on completing his Eagle Scout project right here on campus!

For his Eagle Project, Henry chose to improve our “backyard” play space by planning and leading a three-day effort to remove a rotting fence and install 150 feet of brand-new fencing. He organized the project from start to finish, recruiting volunteers, making key decisions, and providing thoughtful leadership every step of the way.

We are incredibly proud of Henry and deeply grateful for his hard work and service to our school community. Thank you, Henry, and thank you to Scouting America for helping develop young leaders who make a meaningful difference in their communities! 🎉👏

Spring Fling brought our community together for an evening full of fun.🌸🪩 With dancing, sweet treats, and DJ Jeff the Chef (AKA Mr. Jeff) keeping the party going, it was a joyful way to celebrate spring together.

A special shoutout to our 6th grade Explorations students, who planned and ran the bake sale as part of their service learning project. Guests directed their donations to three local organizations, raising funds for DC Diaper Bank, SMYAL, and Healing Justice. We're so proud of their thoughtful work and community impact.

Our fifth grade exploration at Greenbelt Theatre is an opportunity for students to combine creativity and purpose. What's unique about our Middle School experience? A lot of learning happens outside the classroom. Through partnerships with outside organizations, our students explore, ask questions, and try new things each week. Earlier this year, our 6th graders toured the National Air & Space Museum with a rocket scientist and even got a chance to learn how to land a plane!
