In Memoriam
Dear Friends,
It is with great sadness that we recently learned of the passing of Charles Worth-Sosnick, Class of 2016. Charles was a straight A student all four years at Nora! A kind and steady presence, we will miss him greatly. Our hearts are with his family and friends.
Peace,
Mara
Here are some memories his family would like to share with you on this day, that is his birthday.
Charles David Worth, born on November 6, 1997, passed away peacefully in his bed, on June
9, 2023, after a courageous, almost two year battle with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and
aggressive pediatric cancer.
Charles was, and will remain, in our hearts, an amazing, smart, funny, creative, and most of all, a
kind and special soul, who faced his considerable challenges with resilience and grace, despite a
life cut tragically short. The impact Charles made during his time on Earth will forever remain
etched in the hearts and minds of those who loved him, especially his two Moms, Kim and
Barbara, and Charles’ twin brother, Mark. Charles is very deeply missed.
Charles possessed a spirit that shone brightly with kindness, intellect and deep capacity for
caring. Those who were fortunate enough to know him well will always remember his infectious
smile, which radiated warmth and lit up the room. His intellect and penchant for deep thinking
were evident in every conversation Charles engaged in, as he craved knowledge, understanding
and exploration of the world’s infinite wonders.
Charles loved science, fantasy and everything magical, including a passion for Dungeons and
Dragons, and virtual adventures. Throughout his life, Charles overcame numerous obstacles with
resolve and grit. He graduated at the top of his Nora High School class. He excelled in his
college classes. Charles was pursuing a degree in electrical engineering and dreamed of
inventing and innovating and starting his own company. Charles loved learning and continued to
read and explore throughout his illness.
In the face of his diagnosis, Charles displayed unparalleled bravery, grace, and humility. He
never let his illness define him, but instead faced it head on, inspiring all who witnessed his
unmatched determination. His focus moved from electrical engineering to meditation and
spirituality. Even in the most challenging moments, his incredible sense of humor and gratitude
remained intact. Charles was a true testament to the power of the human spirit, demonstrating
that strength and resilience can be found even in the darkest of times. He touched his John
Hopkins doctors so profoundly that they made a personal visit to his home shortly before he
passed, and then again to attend one of the celebrations of Charles’ life on October 22, 2023.
Though Charles’ time with us was tragically short, the impact of his life upon those who knew
Charles, lives on. His unwavering spirit and determination will forever serve as a beacon of
hope and resilience. Remember Charles for his infectious smile, his keen sense of humor, his
brilliant mind, his creativity, his uniqueness, his kindness, and his deep love for others.
