Silver City Masonic Lodge No.8

Arrived back in the USA a few days ago.
Woke this morning in NM, to an owl hooting on the pole outside the house, beautiful blue sky and fresh air. It’s not London 😀

I hope all the Silver City lodge followers are well.

The lodge will be holding a Valentine’s pot luck this Tuesday, looking forward to some good food and company. I hope someone remembers the roses.

At this special time of year, all members of Silver City Lodge wish our fellow brothers and their families, a very Happy Christmas and peaceful new year.

Members of the lodge, along with ‘Clothe a Child’ staff arranged a visit to WalMart Silver city for 53 families, so that they could select clothing and items for the young persons schooling.

A big thank you to all friends and family who assisted in the venture and WalMart for providing a dedicated check out.

Plus Santa attended, much to the enjoyment of young and old.

It is with sadness, that this year has seen the loss of fellow brothers. Always in our hearts and memories.

We have two new EAs, so looking forward to them carrying on the good name of Freemasonry and its charitable endeavours.

As usual ‘Cloth a child’ will take place in December. This allows local children to buy school clothing and items. A very worthy cause.

Many of the problems in the UK have, for the time being resolved themselves.

I do apologise for not updating this site the last few weeks. I am back in the UK and due to the new governments actions against FB, etc. I may be closing the account.
I will leave it at that, but I am sure you read the news and know of our problems.

Latest news

In April be had a EA initiation, with several brothers from other lodges in attendance.

On 14th May, the lodge held a pot luck for Mother’s Day and all the ladies were given a flower and a heartfelt thank you.

We also had a guest speaker from the local community refuge, who received a cheque from the lodge to help with their worthy cause.

The raffle for the rife was also drawn, the winner being from Las Cruces. The profit from this raffle will help us support our charitable donations.

I hope to have some pictures soon of various events, just trying to sort out social media guide lines from Grand Lodge.

Wishing all Silver City lodge number 8 viewers, a healthy and safe summer.

At last weeks lodge meeting, the final amounts were agreed for 2024 charitable donations.
Throughout the year members give up their time and money, to raise the dollars for theses worth while causes.
I’m so proud to be a member of a lodge that gives as much as we can to the community.

On the March 2nd and 3rd the high desert gun show was held at the convention centre in Silver City. Unfortunately there was a mix up with dates, but it’s with great thanks that our Secretary WB Val, who spent two days selling raffle tickets for a Savage Axis .243 rifle.
As a result, several hundred dollars was raised to help with the lodges charitable donations.
The winner will be picked at our pot luck on May 14th.

On the 13th of this month, Silver City Lodge held a Pot Luck dinner to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
All the ladies who attended were given a red rose.

I hope all Freemason appreciate their better halves, who support them in day to day life and also when engaged in masonic business, be it staying away for meetings, or keeping records up to date in the evening and helping out at charitable events.

I have attached the closing passage of a letter that was given to all who attended.
