Tune in to Earth Matters this week for a preview of the 8th Biannual Natural History of the Gila February 27 - 29 at the Western New Mexico University Global Resource Center in Silver City. Gila Resources Information Project​ Director and Earth Matters co-producer Allyson Siwik talks with Western New Mexico University​ Professor of Biology Dr. William Norris, WNMU Associate Professor of Writing Dr. Heather Steinman, WNMU Professor Emeritus of Natural Sciences Dr. Roland Shook, Bureau of Land Management Range Ecologist Dr. Jony Cockman, and Planning Committee Member Ted Presler. Show rebroadcasts today at 10 am on KURU 89.1FM Silver City and streams at gmcr.org, and at 9 am on KTAL-LP 101.5FM Las Cruces and streams lccommunityradio.org. The 8th Natural History of the Gila Symposium is looking for creative works about the Gila. Poets and prose writers of all kinds are welcome to submit their work for consideration. Readers will read their work in a creative voices session (Feb. 27th) during the symposium, and works will be included in the proceedings of the conference.
Creative writers should submit works for consideration along with a short bio to [email protected] by 1/20/20.
