It still amazes me how many people, after finding out that I'm a snake guy, launch into a story about the snake that they, or someone else killed. I don't understand it, and it would be easy to get angry and chastise them for it, but it's always better to educate than to repudiate.

I dedicate this post to all the people who “hate snakes” but don’t know anything about them beyond wives’ tales and urban legends. We're not living in the dark ages. This is the information age. You don't have to like snakes, but you should take ten minutes out your life to educate yourselves beyond the point of hysterical overreaction and irrational contempt for an animal you know nothing about. What's the point of living in fear when you can do something about it?
