📚 What Exactly Is the TSI?

You’ve probably heard the term TSI thrown around, but what does it actually mean? 🤔

The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a college-readiness assessment designed to determine whether students are ready for college-level coursework in reading, writing, and mathematics.

And here’s the important part: the TSI isn’t just for Dual Credit or Early College students! It can be an important assessment for many high school students who are preparing for life after graduation.

Taking the TSI can help students:

📖 Understand their college-readiness level
✏️ Identify areas where they may need additional support
🎓 Prepare for college-level coursework
🚀 Take an important step toward their future goals

The TSI may seem intimidating at first, but knowing what it is and preparing ahead of time can make a BIG difference!

So if you’re a parent or high school student thinking about college, career training, or your next step after graduation, the TSI is something you should know about.

Know the test. Know your scores. Know your next step. 🎓

We are especially excited to welcome Mrs. Haire to our team this year! We are so proud to have her joining us and can’t wait for all the great things we’ll accomplish together. 💫

Behind every successful Summer Bridge program is a team that truly cares about helping our students succeed. We are so thankful for each of these incredible educators who dedicated their time, knowledge, and hearts to making this past week a success!

• Mrs. Lee – Our fearless ECHS/Dual Credit leader! Mrs. Lee is the driving force behind our Early College High School program and the person who keeps everything running smoothly. From admissions and advising to supporting students every step of the way, she truly knows all things dual credit from front to back. Her passion for helping students achieve their goals, her endless encouragement, and her dedication to creating opportunities for every student are what make our program so successful. We are incredibly grateful for her leadership and the heart she pours into ECHS each and every day.

• Mrs. Poskey – One of our Dual Credit Lab Facilitators, Mrs. Poskey helps students navigate the day-to-day world of college while in high school. Whether it’s answering questions, offering encouragement, or celebrating accomplishments, she’s always there to support our students.

• Mrs. Miller – Our behind-the-scenes superstar! Mrs. Miller jumped in wherever she was needed and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Her positive attitude, flexibility, and heart made a huge impact on our students.

• Mrs. Collins-Russell – One of our fabulous English gurus! Mrs. Collins brings a wealth of knowledge to our students and helps prepare them for college-level expectations with excellence and encouragement. She also spent countless hours on preparation for the TSI!

• Mrs. Raughton – Another one of our amazing English gurus! Mrs. Raughton devoted countless hours to creating and organizing TSI preparation materials, giving our students the confidence and skills they needed to succeed.

We couldn’t do it without you! A huge thank you again!

Today we wrapped up our Summer Bridge Program with our Class of 2030 cohort by taking the Reading TSI 📚 a huge milestone in their Early College journey!

The TSI is a challenging college readiness assessment that can include up to 78 reading questions. We're proud to celebrate that 11 students earned a passing score, with Holden Dean achieving the highest score of the day.

While not everyone passed today, every student left with a benchmark and promising scores that will guide their growth moving forward. We're incredibly proud of the resilience and determination this cohort has shown throughout the Summer Bridge.

Congratulations, Class of 2030! This is just the beginning. We are so excited for your future! 🎉📚
