Meet Our Newest Tiger, Melissa Myers!

Melissa is joining the district as our new Educational Diagnostician for our PPCD - 1st grade students. She will join the teams at Laura Reeves Primary and Silsbee Elementary.

We're so excited to have her at Silsbee ISD and can't wait to see the positive impact she will make on students!

Under Senate Bill 12, parents/guardians must provide written consent before a student can receive routine school-based health or counseling services from district personnel. The state recently released updated guidelines on what needs to be included on these forms, so we need our parents/guardians to complete a consent form.

Please take a moment to log in to your child's Skyward Family Access account to complete the consent form.

• You, as a parent or guardian, have the fundamental right to make decisions regarding the upbringing and control of your child. Silsbee ISD is committed to being a supportive partner in that effort by providing effective academic instruction and by supporting the general well-being of our students so they can remain academically focused.

• School personnel will encourage your child to discuss any issues related to their well-being with you and can facilitate those conversations. Staff are expected to keep parents informed of observations regarding their child’s mental, emotional, or physical health. You have the right to access your child’s education and health records at any time.

• Teachers and other employees will periodically check in on a child’s well-being (for example, asking how a student is feeling). If school personnel determine that a student needs additional structured observation, called monitoring, we will notify you. We will also notify you in advance of any proposed change in services related to your student’s mental, emotional, or physical health or well-being.

The Silsbee ISD Transportation Department utilizes the Zonar Bus Suite Parent App which is a tool that allows families to track their child’s school bus and receive notifications about delays. Bus delay notifications are sent directly through the app.

Please see the attached flyer which provides a step-by-step guide on how to download the app.

**Important reminder that if your child is under the age of 8, they must have a parent, guardian or older sibling at the bus stop to pick them up.
