JBU enrolls more than 2,200 students from 37 states and 48 countries in its traditional undergraduate, graduate, online and concurrent education programs. JBU offers more than 40 undergraduate majors, with top programs including nursing, psychology, kinesiology, engineering, biology, family and human services, and graphic design. Eighteen graduate programs are available in business, counseling, cybersecurity, education and higher education. Last week, some of us gathered for a workshop exploring the biblical foundation for engaging across cultures. We considered how our own assumptions, habits and comfort zones shape the way we relate to others.

The goal wasn't simply to learn about cultural intelligence. We practiced it. Through several exercises, participants were challenged to step outside familiar circles, start conversations with people they hadn't met before and consider where we might grow in understanding, humility and fellowship.

And, naturally, we discovered the shared language of fried chicken. 😄

Thank you, Dr. Song, Eve Jagger, and Seth Sears for providing opportunities like this to learn alongside people whose experiences are different from our own. The reflection, conversation, and practical examples make us all better.
