The nature of social media sites presents third parties the opportunity to post content over which SVS has no control, which may be offensive, inappropriate and/or in violation of Siletz Valley Sc

hools policies and procedures. Examples of "offensive" posts include those that are violent, obscene, profane, hateful or racist. Once identified, such content will be removed as promptly as circumstances will allow and the person who made the post will be banned and reported to law enforcement as appropriate. Examples of "inappropriate" posts include comments that threaten or harm the reputation of any person or organization, advertisements or solicitations of any kind, comments that suggest or encourage illegal activity, multiple off-topic posts or repetitive posts that are copied and pasted, and personal information including, but not limited to, minor children names, email addresses, telephone numbers or mailing addresses. These posts may be removed and the person who made the post may be banned at the discretion of the SVS staff. SVS does not sponsor or endorse any content posted on its social media sites by third party users.

Our Siletz Valley School Culinary Team students worked with Tel-tvm' farms to provide a cooking class and lunch for OSU tribal youth. Students prepared baked oysters, steamer clams with seabeans, roasted butternut squash soup, fresh grilled rockfish, sautéed zucchini and raspberry cobbler for dessert.

Another win for Yakona and Siletz Valley Schools! NOAA's Bay Watershed Education and Training (BWET) program has awarded the partnership funding to continue our collaboration to educate Oregon's future leaders.

Forest to Sea: A Watersheds Approach is a K-12 program to engage Siletz Valley Schools’ students in learning cultural and traditional ecological knowledge while studying environmental conditions on the Yaquina and Siletz Rivers through BWET's Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience lens. Our main objectives are to engage students in
• learning about past and present human impact on the world around them
• thinking about their personal choices relative to the environment
• creating service-learning opportunities in which students are engaged in projects benefiting the environment and their community; and
• empowering them to become part of the solution.

In addition to NOAA B-WET, Yakona and Siletz Valley School, partners on this effort include the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians (plus multiple tribal programs); Lincoln County School District - Oregon; Oregon Coast Community College; Oregon Sea Grant; and multiple nonprofit community partners. We are grateful to everyone for their continued efforts to educate Oregon's future leaders. Also, many thanks to the Collins Foundation for being the first funder in on this project!

🏆 1st Place at the Battle of the Bay! 🏆
We're thrilled to share that our Siletz Valley School culinary students took home 1st place in this year's Battle of the Bay!
The Battle of the Bay is a fun, friendly People's Choice competition hosted by the Fishermen's Wives Association during their annual Homeport Dinner. This fundraiser brings together local restaurants, each creating a unique seafood appetizer using locally harvested seafood. Guests take part in a blind taste test, so no one knows which restaurant prepared each dish until the awards ceremony.
Our students crafted a black cod dish featuring butternut squash, wild rice, and edible flowers — and it was a crowd favorite, earning them the top spot!
We couldn't be prouder of the creativity, teamwork, and skill these students brought to the table. Congratulations, team! 👏
