Everyone is welcome!

Join us tomorrow for the final Sunday Sangha of the year, to gather in community with chanting, stillness, Dharma reflection, and discussion.

Walking Between Worlds: The Myth of Persephone as Dharma Practice

With Janka, we will explore a myth that has traveled through centuries and cultures—a myth that speaks not only to the seasonal cycles of the world, but to the cycles within each of us: the myth of Persephone.

Myths endure because they speak in symbols rather than instructions. They offer us a landscape, a set of images, a language of the heart. And like good dharma, they bypass the analytical mind and land somewhere deeper. We will listen to this story not as something ancient or distant, but as something happening inside us right now. Because it is.

A good reminder from Sayadaw U Tejaniya:
"If you think that you are watching the same thing over and over again, you will become bored. However, if you take a closer look at your experience, you'll understand that no two moments feel exactly the same."

Sayadaw U Tejaniya on asking questions:
"Ask questions not to get answers, but to strengthen awareness. You don't need to find answers; simply asking questions awakens awareness."

Good reminder from Sayadaw U Tejaniya:
"Every morning when you wake up, you have to set the intention, How am I going to live today? How am I going to look after the mind today?" In this way you clear the path, by setting an intention for how you will bring the Dhamma into your life that day."

What a great question:
"Does impermanence only manifest when a leaf is falling off the tree? Or is the leaf already impermanent when it is still part of the tree?"

Something beautiful to reflect on from Ajahn Sucitto:
"During a lifetime of many small disappointments, betrayals, threats and the rest, we develop a tough skin over our sensitivity, and a feeling that happiness is something we have to seek out. Eventually, there is so much hide protecting the heart that the innate joy of being alive becomes inaccessible. Many people would not even guess that happiness is an innate state of being, independent of circumstances. The Buddha found that happiness in the purity of his heart, and called that innate purity of being ‘unconditioned’. It is unconditioned because it is not dependent on conditions. One who realizes that experiences Nibbana, the highest happiness."
