We are so excited to welcome our newest Eagles! 🦅Class of 2029 students and parents are invited to attend our 6th Grade Orientation this , Aug 5, from 10-11am.

👉 Please enter the building through the REAR Middle School entrance, where students will receive a nametag which includes their Activity Period teacher’s name.
Our program will begin in the cafeteria, then students will be dismissed to classrooms with their Activity Period teacher.
Parents will remain in the cafeteria for a brief presentation while students meet in classrooms to get class schedules, lockers, and learn more about becoming first-day ready!

Students will reconnect with parents in the cafeteria and will be able to go back to their lockers and walk their schedule as needed.

If you have a brand new student to Signal Mountain schools, please complete registration online through the PowerSchool Parent Portal EARLY! This will ensure your student has a class schedule on August 5th.
School staff will also be available upstairs in the Compass Media Center after the orientation if families need to complete any registration pieces at that time.

If students are unable to attend Friday's orientation, rest assured that we will have plenty of smiling faces ready to greet your students on the first day of school to help answer questions and direct them to classes!

🖥 The orientation presentation will also be shared on our school website under the “New to SMMHS” tab.

Please PARK in the REAR middle school parking lot and enter building through rear middle school entrance. Overflow parking is available in the front parking lot if needed.

This is the time to bring the requested supplies for activity period teachers to use throughout the year. You can bring them with you to the cafeteria, then students will carry them to the classrooms when dismissed.

I didn't know this existed until today. With our two oldest we learned a lot, about cell phone usage. With our two younger ones we will be WAY more conservative. This looks like a possible good option.

This may step on some toes, but it's absolutely the truth! The number of cases we work involving child or teenage victims due to the accessibility of smart phones is outrageous. So many incidents would not happen if your child did not have a smart phone. We understand "times are different," but that doesn't change the facts. We know your children don't want to "miss out," but without a smart phone, your child or teenager will also be missing out on:

-Snapchat n**e photos
-Instagram drama
-Knowing what everyone is doing without them
-P**n Sites
-Inappropriate conversations
-Incessant bullying
-Losing so much of their innocence
-Dangerous TikTok trends
-Being contacted by predators

The list goes on and on and on....

Sure, some teenagers have the maturity to be equipped to handle it, but so many do NOT. If you believe your child is the one who can handle it, chances are you're wrong. Trust us, you’d be shocked to know what your kiddos are doing on their phones.

Of course, prohibiting access doesn't 100% prevent these things, but it drastically reduces the chances of your child becoming a victim (or even a suspect)!
