Cindy, we're all so excited to have you join our team! ❤️

Goooooooooooooooooood Morning!

I’m stepping back into the classroom and I’m really excited about it!! 💛 I’ll be teaching ages 5–7 at a small, holistic private school, and the schedule honestly fits my life so well! Three days a week, four hours a day, three weeks a month 🙌 It gives my body the balance it needs and still leaves space for the tutoring, advocacy, and children's book writing!!

Right now we’re in that in-between stage of setting up, meeting staff, and getting to know all the kids. I’d be lying if I said there weren’t some nerves. Change is hard, even when it’s good. But there’s also a lot of excitement too, especially because the people here are genuinely kind 💛 and that matters so much!

The school’s approach lines up with what I believe about kids. Relationships first. Teaching over controlling. Supporting instead of punishing. It reflects the ideas in Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline by Becky A. Bailey and Punished by Rewards by Alfie Kohn, which focus on connection, intrinsic motivation, and helping kids grow into themselves 💛

It feels like a really good next step!! Nervous and excited can exist at the same time, and right now, they both do 💛✨

Come follow our journey as we collaborate with Serenity Learning Center - Sierra Vista, AZ Campus 💛✨

Have you thought about the effect of "motivation"? Are your school's strategies ruining your child's love of learning? It's possible (and VERY likely if you're not at SerenityLC). Thank you, Alfie, for this great resource book! Reading again and prepping for the first book club discussion.

To learn more about our holistic philosophy of education for our school and resources for homeschooling families, check us out at https://SerenityLC.org and see the flier below to sign up for a tour.

We have a 9 mornings per month holistic academic program (ages 3ish to 19) in SV and a growing list of high-value elective programs. We're on Bevers, East of the 92.

Punished by Rewards gives solutions too! If you want to jump into the book discussion, check that out here: https://learning.endseclusion.org/
