Sierra Vista Unified School District #68 In 1915, a one-room building opened its doors as the Buena school in order to serve the growing population of settlers around the gates of Fort Huachuca.

K-8 students were instructed for 40 years in that adobe brick building located approximately where the Chili’s restaurant in Sierra Vista, AZ stands today. Shortly after the incorporation of The City of Sierra Vista, Arizona, the residents felt that their city needed its own high school and school district. Carmichael School was built in Sierra Vista in 1956 serving grades K-12, and the Sierra Vista Unified School District was born. While we maintain our strong heritage, we have come a long way since our days teaching behind adobe walls. Today our school district has six elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. Our teachers are dedicated to education and have more years of experience than the Arizona state and peer group average. Additionally, 127 of our teachers hold either a masters or doctorate degree. All are highly certified ambassadors of education. The SVUSD Board is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination in relation to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, and disability. This policy will prevail in all matters concerning staff members, students, the public, educational programs and services, and individuals with whom the Board does business. Discrimination includes harassment. Staff members or students who are found to have violated this policy are subject to discipline.

Good news, C**t Nation! The **weather delay at Buena High School’s Loveless Field has been cleared**, and **gates are now open** for tonight’s football game!

Fans may now make their way to the gates and enter the stadium.

Due to **lightning in the area**, there is currently a **weather delay for tonight’s football game at Buena High School’s Loveless Field**.

🚨 **Gates will NOT open at the usual 5:30 PM time.** Gate opening will be delayed until the lightning has passed and it is safe to proceed.

For everyone’s safety, please **remain in your vehicle and do not line up at the gates** until we announce that the gates are open.

Our August Coyotes of the Month were May Larson for volleyball and Carden Patrick for cross country!

Carden is an excellent student-athlete and his teammates all look up to him. Carden works hard every practice and is a consistent performer at his meets. His teammates count on his leadership ability and his teachers all enjoy having him in class! Way to represent!

Maylene Larson consistently shows up to every practice, works hard, and has a great attitude. In the last game against Benson, she stepped up when we really needed her. Her serving helped bring us back into the game, and she also made some important passes. She is a great example of staying positive, working hard, being a great teammate, and always being ready when her team needs her.

CTE C**ts Welcome Congressman Juan Ciscomani!🐴💙

Buena High School was proud to welcome Congressman Juan Ciscomani and his team for an afternoon highlighting the incredible opportunities available through our Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs!

During his visit, Congressman Ciscomani met directly with students, learned about the programs they are involved in, and heard why they chose their CTE pathways and how those experiences are helping shape their plans for the future.

He had the opportunity to visit students representing:

🔧 Automotive
⚙️ Engineering
🚔 Law & Public Safety
🩺 Nursing
🎭 Stagecraft

The best part of the afternoon was giving our students the opportunity to share their skills, experiences, and goals firsthand. Our CTE C**ts have a lot to be proud of, and Buena loves any opportunity to show them off!

Thank you to Congressman Ciscomani and his team for spending the afternoon with us, listening to our students, and taking an interest in the programs preparing them for college, careers, and their futures.
