As the 2025-2026 school year came to a close, our Alverno community gathered to celebrate the achievements of our students in athletics and extracurricular activities! Quinn Kilpatrick and Evan Duran were named Alverno Scholar Athletes of the Year in recognition of their teamwork and dedication both in the classroom and on the field. There was plenty to celebrate this year, with our Jaguars bringing home CYOLA team championships in both B and C girls cross country, with the A girls placing third overall. In track, the A girls squad brought home their second consecutive CYOLA team championship, led by individual titles by Olivia Gernon (100m, 200m, 400m), and Maddie Lencioni (javelin). Alverno also brought home Foothill Conference championships and made CYOLA playoff appearances in boys flag football, boys basketball, and girls volleyball. At the annual CYOLA Awards Banquet, a number of Jaguar athletes were awarded All-CYOLA honors: Mila Smith and Meddie Lencioni in girls volleyball, Griffin Rasmussen, Bennett Duvall, and Maddux Adame in flag football, and Lachlan Tekippe and Evan Duran in boys basketball. Our Speech and Debate team also had solid showings this season, with two Jaguars bringing home individual championships in the Southern California Junior Forensics League (SCJFL): Sofia Bauer in Spar and Elle Van Dorpe in Impromptu. Other activities such as Student Ministry, Golf, Chess, Drama, Dance, Choir, Esports, and more were recognized for their hard work and success this past year! Congratulations to our students and thank you to our families!

First and third grades took advantage of the recent spell of gorgeous weather to enjoy a nature walk on campus. They used their senses to make observations and connections. The children drew what they saw and wrote about the sounds and smells of Spring blooming around them. The adventure ended at the Villa pond where the students sketched the plants and creatures contained within. They wrapped up their day with quiet reading time in the shade.

Second grade has been learning about the life cycle of the butterfly. The children watched each of their caterpillars form into a chrysalis in the classroom, and, once the adult butterflies emerged, the children released them into the wild.
