🧪🚀 STEM was THRIVING in Miss Sarah’s classroom during the final days of school! 🚀🧪

Friends, Miss Sarah absolutely brought the THUNDER to end the school year! 💙

Her students spent the last few days learning, exploring, building, and experimenting through a series of hands-on STEM activities that had everyone engaged and excited!

🥤 Students made root beer floats while exploring the properties of solids, liquids, and gases.

🍋 They created lemon shake-ups, observing mixtures, solutions, and physical changes while enjoying a tasty treat!

⛵ Students designed and built their own boats before testing whether they would float. We’re happy to report that EVERY boat stayed afloat and remained in one piece! 😂👏

🤖 And because Miss Sarah never misses an opportunity for STEM, students also assembled robots and explored activities made possible through the Shelby County STEM Grant!

These activities connected beautifully to Ohio Science Standards for grades 2–6, including:
🔬 Scientific inquiry and investigation
🧠 Engineering design and problem-solving
💧 Properties of matter
⚖️ Forces, motion, and buoyancy
🤖 Technology and STEM applications

But beyond science, these lessons supported important Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills as well:

✨ Collaboration and teamwork
✨ Persistence through challenges
✨ Creative thinking
✨ Communication
✨ Confidence-building
✨ Learning from mistakes and trying again

At Resilient Heights, we love seeing students become scientists, engineers, inventors, and problem-solvers. Hands-on learning gives students opportunities to think critically, work together, and discover that learning can be both meaningful and FUN. 💙

A huge shoutout to Miss Sarah for creating experiences that students will remember long after the school year ends!

🔬🧪 SCIENCE IN ACTION at Resilient Heights South! 🧪🔬

Mrs. Berryman’s class has been diving deep into the world of microscopes, and WOW were our students engaged! 💙

Students learned all about:
🔍 The parts of a microscope
🧠 The function of each part
🔬 How to properly use different magnification lenses
👀 How to bring slides into focus and make detailed observations

And friends… they viewed nearly 160 slides collaboratively! 🤯

Some student favorites included:
🪰 A common housefly leg
🌽 The stem of blue corn
🫀 Small intestine cells

But one of our FAVORITE moments?

Watching our girl ReAnne proudly show Deputy Rindler everything she learned. 🥹💙 She was SO excited, so confident, and so engaged in the lesson that she even asked her mom for a microscope to practice with over the summer! 😂🔬

This lesson beautifully connected to Ohio Science Standards for middle and high school through:
🧪 Scientific investigation and inquiry
🔬 Use of scientific tools and technology
🧠 Observation and analysis
📚 Understanding cells, organisms, and structures

It also strongly supported Social Emotional Learning (SEL) by encouraging:
✨ Confidence
✨ Curiosity
✨ Collaboration
✨ Communication
✨ Perseverance and problem-solving

Students worked together, supported one another, and built confidence through hands-on learning and discovery.

And we absolutely have to give a HUGE shoutout to Mrs. Berryman, who was able to secure these microscopes through a grant opportunity! Opportunities like this bring learning to life in meaningful and unforgettable ways for our students. 💙

At RHS, we LOVE seeing our students discover passions, build confidence, and realize just how capable they truly are. 🔬✨

☀️🍕 SCIENCE + S’MORES = A PERFECT DAY at Resilient Heights South! 🍕☀️

On Monday, Mrs. Berryman planned an AWESOME schoolwide STEM project where students created their very own solar ovens out of pizza boxes—and friends… they WORKED! 🔥

Using the power of the sun, students successfully cooked:
🌭 Hot dogs
🍫 S’mores
😋 And a whole lot of excitement!

What started as a high school project quickly expanded to include our elementary and middle school students too—and honestly, we LOVE that it became a schoolwide experience. 💙

This hands-on activity connected beautifully to Ohio Science Standards K–12, including:
☀️ Solar energy & heat transfer
🧠 Scientific inquiry & problem-solving
🔬 Engineering design & experimentation
📚 Observation, prediction, and data collection

But perhaps even more importantly… this project supported Social Emotional Learning by building:
✨ Teamwork
✨ Communication
✨ Patience
✨ Perseverance
✨ Confidence

Students worked together, tested ideas, solved problems, and celebrated success together—and let’s be real, learning just hits different when there are melted marshmallows involved. 😂

At Resilient Heights, we LOVE creating opportunities where learning feels exciting, engaging, and meaningful for ALL ages. Watching students from elementary through high school participate together made this project even more special. 💙

Huge shoutout to Mrs. Berryman for planning such an unforgettable learning experience! ☀️🔥

☀️🎉 LAST WEEK at Resilient Heights South was our EPIC Field Week, and WOW did our students show up! 🎉☀️

Friends… our kiddos absolutely had a FIELD DAY with all the games, activities, and fun—and honestly, they far exceeded every expectation we had. 💙

The teamwork.
The sportsmanship.
The encouragement.
The laughter.
The JOY.

It was so special watching our students simply enjoy being kids and celebrating all the growth they’ve made this year. 🥹

Here’s a look back at all the fun:

🌈 Monday – Tie Dye Day
Each class picked team colors and created awesome tie-dye shirts!

⚽ Tuesday – Scooter Ball
Big competition, even bigger laughs, and LOTS of “professional athlete” energy. 😂

🥎 Wednesday – Indoor Mat Kickball
The teamwork and sportsmanship were unmatched!

🍦 Thursday – Make Your Own Ice Cream Sundaes
Because every great Field Week deserves ice cream with ALL the toppings!

🦆 Friday – Duck Matching & Awards Day
Students wrapped up the week with games, mini pool fun, and celebrating the incredible accomplishments of the school year.

Weeks like this remind us just how far our students have come—not just academically, but socially and emotionally too. We are SO proud of every single one of them. 💙

What a beautiful way to close out such an unforgettable year at RHS! ☀️✨

🌟🏆 Resilient Heights South – FINAL Classroom of the Month! 🏆🌟

This final honor goes to none other than our absolutely lovable, incredibly well-behaved, and most importantly… CONSISTENT champions…

👏 KINDERGARTEN & FIRST GRADE! 👏

Oh friends… let us tell you about these boys. 🥹

When they first came to us… well… let’s just say they were a little…

✨ Wild.
✨ Busy.
✨ Maybe even slightly feral. 🤣🤣🤣

But WOW.

What a transformation we have witnessed.

These sweet boys have gone from learning how to simply function in a school setting… to truly embracing what it means to be part of a classroom, a community, and a culture of learning.

They have learned:
📚 The purpose of school
🤝 The value of community
💙 The importance of kindness
🧠 The joy of learning
👏 The power of meeting expectations

And honestly? We could not be more proud.

To:
💙 Hunter
💙 Shawn
💙 Xayden
💙 Henry
💙 Anakin
💙 Ben
💙 Graycen

You boys have done something truly special with the help of Miss Marah, Miss Ky and Miss Josie!

You learned the rules.
You embraced the expectations.
You showed up.
You worked hard.
And you have grown beyond what many could have imagined at the beginning of this journey.

One of the absolute BEST parts of our day is hearing those little voices confidently recite school rules and expectations. There is just something so heartwarming about watching true learning happen—not just academically, but socially and emotionally too.

These boys now walk in ready to learn, ready to engage, and ready to have an AWESOME day—and that growth is worth celebrating loudly.

This classroom is proof that with the right structure, love, consistency, and support… even the wildest little hearts can flourish in the most beautiful ways. 🌱💙

To our Kindergarten and First Grade team—thank you for pouring so much into these students.

And to these amazing boys…
We are SO proud of you.
You have grown, you have learned, and you have absolutely earned this recognition.

Keep shining, little kings. 👑

🌟💙 Resilient Heights South – FINAL Student of the Week for 2025–2026 💙🌟

And to round out our final Student of the Week for this school year… this honor goes to a young lady whose story is powerful, emotional, and nothing short of transformational.

👏 Miss Peyton Massey 👏

This one… this one means something BIG.

Peyton came to us carrying so much.

She arrived in a place of confusion, hurt, anger, and pain. She was standing at one of life’s hardest crossroads—the choice between continuing down a path that was not serving her… or choosing something more.

And if we’re being honest?

That transition was HARD.

To say Peyton did not immediately buy into our expectations, boundaries, structure, or “ridiculous” rules would be an understatement. Our girl had already built her own survival guide, her own life rules, and she was prepared to stand firmly in them.

But here’s the thing about Peyton…

Underneath the walls, the anger, the fear, and the pain… was a remarkable young woman capable of extraordinary change.

And somewhere along the way, Peyton made a choice.

✨ She chose HERSELF. ✨

She chose healing.
She chose growth.
She chose accountability.
She chose to dig deep and confront the parts of herself that needed healing.

And friends… the transformation we have witnessed over these last several weeks has been enough to bring us to tears.

We have watched Peyton walk away from situations that were harmful to her.
We have watched her disengage.
We have heard her say:

💬 “I really just need to focus on myself right now.”

And if you truly understand how powerful that statement is… then you understand why this moment is so emotional.

That is growth.
That is healing.
That is self-awareness.
That is a young woman reclaiming her life.

Peyton has not been fearless—but she has been BRAVE.

She has remained vigilant in her journey toward becoming the person she was always meant to be.

And now?

This once angry, hurting girl has become one of the brightest lights in our building.

Her smile?
Incredible.

Her energy?
Contagious.

Her presence?
Powerful.

One of the most beautiful things about Peyton is that she is truly learning herself. She is learning what works for her. She is learning what doesn’t. She advocates. She reflects. She grows.

And on a deeply personal note…

One of Mrs. Tidwell’s favorite things is when Peyton asks for one of her “mom hugs.” 💙

Because that simple act says everything:

She feels safe.
She feels loved.
She feels accepted.
She knows she belongs.

And THAT is what this program is all about.

Peyton’s growth is not only a testament to her own strength—but also to the incredible love and dedication of her family, who fought for her, believed in her, and ensured she had every support necessary to become the young woman she was always destined to be.

To Peyton’s parents:

Your pride is justified.
Your fight mattered.
Your daughter is doing something extraordinary.

Peyton, we are so unbelievably proud of you that words truly fall short.

You are proof that therapy only works when you do the work.
You are proof that healing is possible.
You are proof that choosing yourself can change everything.

We could not imagine a more deserving student to close out this year.

Keep going, sweet girl.
Your story is only just beginning—and it is BEAUTIFUL. 💙✨

🌟🐾 Resilient Heights South – Student of the Week for May 8th (A Very Special Edition!) 🐾🌟

We may be a little behind… but this one was FAR too important not to celebrate! 💙

Last week, our Student of the Week honor went to one of our newest (and furriest) team members…

👏 MAX! 👏

That’s right—our sweet therapy dog officially earned his place on the board, and honestly… could there be a more deserving good boy?! 🥹

Max joined our team just a few weeks ago, and while he is still learning the ropes, one thing is already crystal clear…

✨ He is making a HUGE impact. ✨

Max may also currently hold the title for:
🐾 Most hugs received
🐾 Keeper of student secrets
🐾 Provider of calm
🐾 Emotional support expert
🐾 Certified good boy

As Max continues to grow into his role, he is already building meaningful bonds with our students and staff. His presence brings a sense of calm, comfort, and emotional safety that is truly special.

💙 Why Therapy Dogs Matter:

Therapy dogs provide incredible benefits within school settings, including:
✨ Reducing anxiety and stress
✨ Supporting emotional regulation
✨ Encouraging positive social interactions
✨ Building trust and comfort
✨ Increasing feelings of safety and belonging
✨ Providing nonjudgmental companionship

For many of our students, moments can feel overwhelming—and Max offers something incredibly powerful:

🐾 Quiet support
🐾 Consistency
🐾 Connection
🐾 Peace

At Resilient Heights, we know our students thrive when they feel safe, supported, and understood—and Max is becoming an essential part of creating exactly that environment.

He isn’t just a therapy dog.
He’s a co-regulator.
A comforter.
A relationship builder.
And an incredibly important part of our program.

Max, we are so lucky to have you on our team. Keep bringing the calm, the cuddles, and the joy. 💙

🎨🎶 Resilient Heights North Showed UP at the Lima Civic Center! 🎶🎨

Can we just take a moment to celebrate what an INCREDIBLE opportunity this was for our students?! 💙

This past Saturday, several of our talented RHN students proudly represented Resilient Heights North at the Art & Music Concert hosted by the Lima Area Concert Band at the Lima Civic Center!

And friends… they absolutely SHINED. ✨

A huge shoutout goes to Dr. D, whose passion for music (and incredible French horn skills! 🎺) helped create this amazing opportunity for our students. Through his dedication, RHN students were able to showcase their artistic talents on a larger stage—and wow, did they deliver!

🏆 Our Outstanding Student Artists:
🥇 Nick Baker-Lara – 1st Place
🥇 Wyatt Brenner – 1st Place
🥈 Xander Dolan – 2nd Place
🥉 Kai Jefferson – 3rd Place
🥈 Rickey Thompson – 2nd Place
🥈 Zaria Scott – 2nd Place
🥇 Lexi Wurtsbaugh – 1st Place
🥇 Ashton Moran – 1st Place

We are SO unbelievably proud of each and every one of these students for sharing their creativity, courage, and talent with the broader community.

🎨 Why the Arts Matter:

Participation in the arts supports so much more than creativity. Through visual arts and music, students develop:
✨ Self-expression
✨ Confidence
✨ Emotional regulation
✨ Perseverance
✨ Problem-solving
✨ Pride in accomplishment

💙 SEL Connection:

Opportunities like this are powerful for Social Emotional Learning because they help students:
🤝 Build confidence in their abilities
🎯 Strengthen self-awareness
🌟 Develop resilience
💬 Practice communication
🏆 Experience success and recognition

For many of our students, moments like this can be transformational. They are reminded that their talents matter, their voices matter, and they belong in spaces where their gifts can shine.

At Resilient Heights, we believe in nurturing the WHOLE child—and this event was a beautiful example of how the arts can empower students, build self-worth, and create lifelong memories.

To our students: We are beyond proud.
To Dr. D: Thank you for opening doors.
To our families: Thank you for supporting these amazing young artists.

RHN, you represented with excellence. 💙
