NDE Exempt School Office plans to open Online Filing today -barring any setbacks.

[Please note: we are sharing information and do not own or control the online filing system. NDE Exempt School Office is responsible for the system and is also the place to direct specific system questions if you encounter a problem. If it doesn't go live today, please be patient. We have plenty of time to file.]

There have been changes since last year due to the recent passage of LB 1027, good changes.

Filing requires only 1 parent, legal guardian, or educational decisionmaker. You can add others but it is no longer required.

EDUCATIONAL DECISIONMAKER is a new term that was added - it means "a person designated or ordered by a court to make educational decisions on behalf of a child" and this is different than a Legal Guardian since the educational decisionmaker can only make decisions related to the child's education.

No Curriculum information is gathered.

No Instructional Monitor (teacher) information is gathered.

If you are the Parent Representative AND a Parent, you can click a button to auto-fill the required information.

If you are the Parent Representative and NOT a Parent, you will need to enter Parent info and use a separate email for that parent to have the system send the required Authentication requirement.

*** When all required sections are complete, you SUBMIT and the system will email a confirmation email to you AND the NDE Acknowledgement Letter WILL be attached to that email. Just print a copy for your files, put one in your wallet for teacher discounts, and start homeschooling.

KEY INFO:
Rule 13 is NOT updated yet and will still read as it did last year. The update will occur in Aug-Oct timeframe.

The FAQs are being updated to reflect the new online changes, the new Rule 13 that is coming, etc.

The hardcopy FORMS are not yet updated. You can still use them but they won't reflect the recent changes in the law until later.
