Exciting news - Dog trainings will continue through the fall semester!

Mark your calendars to join us every Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. now through December 8 with your furry friend! $15 per night; cash preferred, checks accepted. Meet at the pavilion/greenhouse on the Sidney campus. Most trainings will take place outside, but if the weather is bad, participants will meet in room 510 of the North Building.

Arrive with a hungry dog, tummy-safe treats, a collar (not corrective), and a non-retractable leash. Keep dogs separate from other dogs. You will learn how to build a relationship, trust, and respect with your pup, plus get started on the foundation skills needed to be a well-mannered companion. Those who are more advanced will practice advance loose leash walking and other basic skills by adding duration and distraction. Don’t forget those high-value treats!

Thank you to the MCC Ag Club for sponsoring these sessions. For more information, contact Michelle Gibson at [email protected].

Tore Skogseth, M.A., is a Student Success Counselor at Montcalm Community College.

Hailing from the foothills of the Norwegian mountains, this thunderous bearded Norwegian left the fjords of Norway for the cornfields of Michigan (following a brief interlude between soybean fields and refineries in Southern Illinois).

He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Family Life Education in 2004 and his Master of Arts in Counseling in 2007, both from Spring Arbor University. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan. While Tore loves meeting with students, he also discovered a love for teaching. He started teaching GNST 100, Success Skills for the 21st Century, in fall 2012 and, as the department chair for the General Studies department, Skogseth has had a big influence on the development of the course.

This could be you in just a couple of weeks!

Exciting news! The first residents have officially moved into Carbonelli Villas and are already settling into their new home away from home. Several MCC Volleyball players arrived on August 2, giving them time to get comfortable before kicking off their season.

If you're interested in living on campus this fall, there's still time! Visit montcalm.edu/student-housing to learn more, schedule a tour and apply!
