✨ CENTER DIRECTOR SPOTLIGHT: KC ✨
Meet KC, the Center Director at The Village Learning Center in Sicklerville, New Jersey! 💜
How long have you worked in childcare?
I’ve been working in childcare since 2013. I’ve always had side jobs in retail, but somehow, I would always find my way back to childcare. No matter where life took me, I always knew this was where my heart belonged. There’s something so rewarding about being a part of a child’s early years and knowing that the work we do can help shape their confidence, development, and future.
What inspired you to join the childcare field?
For starters, I come from a big family, so being around children has always been a big part of my life. To be completely transparent, childcare was not my original career plan. I actually aspired to become a fashion designer! 👗✨
My journey changed when I went to college and participated in a work-study program at a daycare. That experience introduced me to the world of early childhood education in a completely different way. I fell in love with the relationships I was building with the children and the opportunity to watch them learn, grow, and discover who they were.
After attending college and taking courses focused on education, learning, development, and leadership, I realized that I wanted to expand my career in early childhood. I didn’t just want to be an educator—I wanted to lead, build, mentor, and eventually run a business where I could make a lasting impact.
Childcare became more than a career for me. It became a purpose. ❤️
What makes your center special?
For starters, my team! 💜 Although we recently went through a rebrand, I couldn’t be more proud of how far we’ve come. We’ve made so many positive changes, but I also know the work isn’t finished. We’re continuing to grow, learn, improve, and build something our families and children can truly be proud of.
I’m incredibly grateful for the patience, support, feedback, and trust our families have shown us throughout this journey. Rebranding is more than changing a name or giving a building a fresh look—it’s about creating a renewed vision, strengthening our team, and continuing to provide an environment where children feel safe, loved, supported, and inspired to learn.
Our curriculum is another part of what makes us special. We provide a developmentally appropriate, age-based curriculum that encourages children to explore, problem-solve, create, communicate, and build the skills they need at each stage of development.
But beyond the curriculum, I genuinely care about every person who walks through our doors. I believe it’s hard to find people who truly care about what they do, and that’s why having educators who genuinely love teaching, mentoring, nurturing, and encouraging children makes our center so special.
We aren’t just caring for children—we’re building relationships with families, supporting our educators, and helping create the foundation for each child’s future. 🧸📚✨
I’m excited about where we are today, but I’m even more excited about where we’re going. I can only imagine what The Village Learning Center will look like in the near future, and I’m grateful to be a part of the journey. 💜
✨ Come grow with us at The Village Learning Center! ✨
