YOU CAN TRAIN HARD ALL YOU WANT. BUT IF YOU AREN’T FUELING YOUR BODY, YOU’RE LEAVING PERFORMANCE ON THE TABLE. 💪🏻

Bryan O'Neil & Laura Wellington O'Neil , owners of CrossFit Claddagh , are two people who truly represent what AP Performance is all about.

Their drive, discipline, and motivation speak for themselves. But what stands out to me most is their ability to not only coach others, but to BE coached themselves. That willingness to learn, trust the process, and continuously improve is a huge part of why they’re so successful.

Performance is SO much more than aesthetics.

It’s strength. Endurance. Recovery. Energy. Longevity. And one of the biggest pieces I cannot emphasize enough: NUTRITION.

The International Olympic Committee’s research confirms that consistently underfueling can impair training adaptations, recovery, and athletic performance.

You cannot expect your body to continuously give you more if you’re not giving it what it needs.

And these two are direct representations of what happens when you prioritize the bigger picture.

It’s not just about how you look. It’s about what your body is capable of doing 💪❤️

Putting in work at Worcester Academy and making his presence known. The film speaks for itself.

My role? Making sure the body behind the pads is fueled, recovered, and built to perform. Excited to see where this kid goes …he’s one to watch. 👀

A little client shoutout 👏🏼🏈

So proud to see two of my AP Performance athletes being recognized! Brady Perry ’28 — Corsac Award/MVP and Owen Kerr ’27 — Hazelhurst Award/Best Lineman.

Love seeing my athletes earn recognition for what they’re doing on the field. Congratulations, gentlemen — well deserved! 💪🏻🏆

ONE YEAR. Same kid… significantly less little. 😂🏈

I promise I won’t embarrass him with a full Coach Mom breakdown, but I couldn’t NOT share this one.

Almost 13 years old, and the amount of growth that can happen in ONE year during this stage is wild. 🥹

And yes… we practice what I preach in our own house.

With a growing athlete, our focus isn’t on eating less, being “lean,” or obsessing over the scale. It’s about FUELING growth. We prioritize enough overall food, protein, carbs, healthy fats, nutrient-dense meals, hydration, sleep, recovery, and appropriate supplements when needed.

Because his body isn’t just trying to perform on a football field — it’s literally building a human at the same time. 😂

Do we eat perfectly? Absolutely not. He’s an almost-13-year-old boy. If left unsupervised, I’m fairly certain his food pyramid would consist of snacks and whatever can be eaten in 30 seconds. 😂

But the foundation matters.

Watching him get taller, stronger and more confident in his body over this past year has been pretty incredible. And it’s another reminder of what I tell my athletes and their parents all the time:

You cannot expect a growing body to perform optimally if you’re not giving it the materials it needs to grow.

We practice what we preach over here. ❤️🏈💪🏼

And apparently I need to prepare myself for the grocery bill over the next few years. 😅

🏈 PROUD COACH MOMENT!

My client David Ferris sent me this video of his touchdown this weekend and you KNOW I’m going to brag about him! 👏🏼🔥

With David being away at school, our approach has to look a little different. We communicate realistic expectations for choices while living most of the week The Fessenden School .

It’s not about eating “perfect.” It’s about having a strategy that actually works with his schedule, practices, games, recovery and life away from home.

And as you can see… it’s paying off. 💪🏼🏈

I LOVE when my athletes send me videos like this because the proof is in the pudding. You can put in all the work on the field and in the weight room, but performance is also built during the other hours of the day.

Nutrition. Sleep. Hydration. Recovery. Lifestyle habits.
That’s where we make sure the body can actually KEEP UP with the work you’re asking it to do.

Great work, my friend!! Keep it going👏🏼🔥🏈

You can put in ALL the work in the field or at gym… but nutrition still matters. 💪

Track your food. Show up for your InBody scans. Look at the data.

No guessing. No opinions. Just progress. 📊

Fuel the work you’re putting in. 🔥

I got sent this video of Travis this week and I couldn’t stop smiling. 🥹💪🏼

I seriously cannot believe how much he has changed. But at the same time… I can. Because I know how much work he’s putting in.

This is what dedication to your sport looks like. Showing up, putting in the reps, getting stronger, and also learning how important it is to fuel your body for what you’re asking it to do.

HUGE shoutout to his trainer/coach B2C Training Northeast because he deserves so much credit for what you’re seeing here. 👏🏼 He is the one training Travis, pushing him, teaching him, challenging him and putting so much time into his development as an athlete. Watching the work these two are doing together has been so awesome.

I’m just one piece of Travis’s team on the nutrition side — helping him understand how to fuel his body, support his training and give himself what he needs to perform and grow.

But Travis is the one doing the work. And when you have an athlete who is willing to work, a trainer who continues to push and develop him, and the right nutrition supporting it all… THIS is what can happen.

So freaking proud of you, Travis. Keep going. This is only the beginning. 💪🏼🔥

I coach athletes of all ages (mostly high school) BUT my young crew can start NOW too!!!

One thing I’ll never understand is why people question giving kids things like collagen, protein shakes (in moderation) or electrolytes… but no one bats an eye if they’re eating a box of Dunkin’ Munchkins.

We have to start changing the conversation around what “healthy” actually looks like for young athletes.

Everything in MODERATION, of course and this depends on your kids size/weight etc…. But young athletes need fuel just as much as their older siblings—or even their parents.

This is a typical football practice routine for my 7-year-old.

Hydration comes first. Summer practices are no joke, and getting fluids and electrolytes in before, during, and after practice makes a huge difference. I also make sure it tastes good because if they enjoy it, they’re much more likely to drink it.

Then comes fuel. I keep it simple and fun. Sometimes it’s a Fruit Roll-Up, sometimes Sour Patch Kids on the car ride to practice and then 45/1hr before that with an Uncrustable. Quick carbs for energy, a little fat to help keep him full, and it’s something he’s actually excited to eat.

After practice, we focus on recovery. Last night that looked like grilled white fish, white rice, mixed fruit (pineapple and grapes), and a glass of 2% milk. Nothing fancy just balanced nutrition that he enjoys.

The goal isn’t to create the next Division I athlete.

It’s to help kids recover better, support their immune system, reduce injury risk, build healthy habits around food, and give them the energy to enjoy the sports they play.

Start with consistency with fuel. The performance will follow.

There will always be different opinions in fitness—and that’s okay.

One thing I want people to understand is this:

Not every tool has to be perfect to be valuable.

Your Apple Watch isn’t 100% accurate.
Your weather app isn’t 100% accurate.
Your GPS changes your arrival time as you drive.
Your bathroom scale fluctuates daily.

Yet we still use them because they help us recognize patterns and make better decisions over time.

That’s exactly how I use an InBody scan.

I never base a client’s plan on one scan alone. I combine it with progress photos, strength, measurements, body weight trends, lifestyle, recovery, and how they’re actually feeling.

Could one number be off? Absolutely.

But when those trends continue moving in the right direction month after month, that’s where the real value is.

As coaches, our job isn’t to chase perfect data.

Our job is to gather consistent information, look at the whole picture, and help people make informed decisions that lead to long-term results.

Because great coaching isn’t about one number.

It’s about seeing the story those numbers tell over time. 💙
