Over the past 6 years at RSM, Navya Binani has developed exceptional problem-solving skills through hard work, dedication, and a passion for mathematics. This year, her efforts paid off with outstanding achievements in both the AMC 8 and MOEMS (Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools).

The AMC 8 is one of the nation's most prestigious middle school math competitions, while MOEMS challenges students with creative, non-routine problems that require logical thinking and perseverance. What happens when hard work meets the right preparation?

For Lucas Yijun Li, the answer is an outstanding 18 on his very first AMC 8 as a sixth grader.

At RSM MetroWest, Lucas has challenged himself through competition math, geometry, and algebra, building the analytical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to excel in high-level mathematics. His achievement is a testament to the power of consistent practice and a strong mathematical foundation.

One lesson Lucas has learned along the way is that growth doesn't come from getting everything right; it comes from learning when things go wrong.

Why is Geometry so important?

A multi-year exposure to proof-based geometry gives students a strong logical foundation and the confidence to succeed in higher-level math. Through mathematical proofs, students learn to think critically, reason step by step, and support every conclusion with evidence, skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

At RSM, students begin Geometry as early as 6th grade, giving them years to develop logical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and mathematical maturity. This preparation helps students excel in the SAT, AP courses, college-level mathematics, and competitions like Math Kangaroo, AMC 8, and MathCounts.
