STALK TALK: PART 2
These are a few things I carry on a stalk.
What’s something you pack that’s a little out of the normal?

SPEED DROP. This is a wildly useful technique. Knowing your speed drop number for your rifle means that you can effectively engage targets at distance without the use of prepared DOPE, data cards, or ballistic solvers WHEN IT’S TIME TO SHOOT.

Obviously, nothing is more accurate than good data. But Speed Drop will get you within .2 mils (roughly 1/2 MOA) of your actual data without the need to reference.
Which is why this tool is so important for a practical/field environment shooter, and is not widely known in other precision rifle disciplines.

This video, and the max point blank zero video is leading up to a follow-up where we will show you how to combine these two techniques to have an extremely effective, rapid shooting solution.

A couple of caveats:
1) This is assuming you have a baseline 100m zero

2) Your speed drop number can change when the atmospheric conditions change. So make sure you update your solver’s environment and recheck your speed drop number periodically.

3) The more ballistically efficient your bullet is, the wider your speed drop range (min and max) will be. Ie: .308 vs 6.5 Creedmoor.

4) Speed drop is trademarked by Accuracy1st so you will need a ballistic solver with Applied Ballistics. There is a long-hand way to figure out a speed drop number but we will not be covering it in this video.

So let’s talk real quick about NVG focusing apertures. I learned about these things while training with some night-ops gurus () and they are one of the most useful NV accessories I’ve been led to.

I made this quick video to show what the contraption is, and why it’s awesome.

Big thanks to the Shreveport Police Department for hosting our one-day Counter Sniper Course, which also included Advanced Situational Awareness, Target Detection, and PID.

Our instructors led classroom instruction, hands-on training, and a live practical designed to push observation skills and precision under pressure.

The final exercise featured a building with two concealed sniper positions—undetectable from the outside—testing students’ ability to identify threats and apply what they learned in real time.

It’s always an honor to train with local law enforcement.
Haughton Police Department recently hosted our Counter Sniper and Target Detection course — focused on operational planning, situational awareness, and threat recognition in real-world environments.

For now, our courses are open to local, state, and federal agencies only.
But don’t worry — public classes are coming soon.
When they do, you’ll want to be first in line.

It has been an exemplary week of training for our officers. Agent Spinney with the Canadian Railroad provided instruction on "Response to incidents on the railways". We also received training on "LEO Counter Sniper and Target Detection" from Veil Training Group. Both classes offered superb training, replete with valuable knowledge for our officers on managing stressful situations that may arise during their careers.
