“This is been a very bad year for thrips, which damage white and light colored roses—light pinks, yellows and so on. All roses have thrips, but the damage is most apparent in the light colored ones. If a rose show is coming up, I’ll treat the roses (just before dark when bees are gone) with the slightest puff of an insecticide on the buds, about every three days for a week or so. Otherwise, after the show I just snap off the damaged heads and let them go to encourage beneficial predators to take care of the problem. This rose is Tineke.”
