Did you know that starting in first grade, our students make daily trips to the library? In the first photo, our first graders are clearly excited about choosing their next book -- and in the second, our eighth graders are completing a giant puzzle and relaxing with some reading time!
Our geometry class enjoyed circular snacks this morning as they learned to calculate arc lengths. π What a fun way to apply their knowledge!
School is back in session following Spring Break and Mrs. Taylor's first graders are busy gearing up for Author's Tea! We can't wait to hear the imaginative stories they create. π

Today we held the Greek Olympics for our 4th graders, who teamed up to compete against each other in events like the conception of an oath, banner design, and the creation of an original chant. π₯π₯π₯ Congrats to Megara, who came home with the gold medal! π¬π·

Thanks to our amazing Book Fair chairs & librarian, Mrs. Bridel, our students were treated with a visit from NYT's Best Selling Author, inspirational speaker, and ultra runner, Dion Leonard, featuring his special guest, Gobi. πΆ Hearing Dion and Gobi's story was super influential and moving -- we're so happy to have them at Southfield School today!
The Southfield Middle School Student Council is sponsoring a cereal collection drive for Common Ground today through next Tuesday, March 15! Drop off cereal at carpool or in Ms. Sheila's office. π₯£

The Southfield Swim Team competed in their first-ever swim meet over the weekend. Despite only having eight swimmers, the team finished in 3rd place out of 17 teams! And, the boy's relay team finished in 1st place!

This past Friday, we held a ribbon-cutting for our brand new tech lab, which was updated with all new equipment thanks to a generous donation from the Hergenrader family! π» Technology Director, Brian Rowell, along with Harper (3rd grade) and Nolan (kindergarten), led the celebration with our After Care students!

This past Thursday, our MathCounts team (Emma King, Emaline Shumate, and Jake Thelen) participated in the online, regional MathCounts competition. The top 12 competitors in the region were selected to go to the state MathCounts competition in Pineville, LA on March 11th, and Jake was selected to go. ππ’πCongrats!! π
