Pancakes, Pancakes! Today during Eric Carle week, rising PS4 campers made pretend "pancakes" while learning sequencing. Thursday they will make the real thing from scratch to eat!

Yesterday, Mrs. Thelen's sixth-graders enjoyed dishes from around the globe as a culmination of their world geography class. Looks delicious!

Fifth-graders graduated from the D.A.R.E. program today and present to speak at their graduation was Agent Justin Dunn.

Dating back to 1983, D.A.R.E. is a "police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives."

Congrats, 5th grade!

The Stanberry Family and the Green Club partnered together to bring a new water refill station to the Middle School this year. The students have saved 1335 water bottles from filling our landfills! Pictured are 7th-graders, Amelia Hale and Mathis Stanberry.

When it comes to creating unique opportunities for learning, Southfield Preschool teachers are the best! Here is Miss Susie's P3 Discovery class learning about great artists. Can you guess who this artist is?

(The song the children learn in class is a hint: "Famous ______, painted the chapel high and low.") 👨‍🎨

Southfield School is lucky to have the guidance of Cross Country Coach Frank Trammel, who was recently (and deservingly) awarded the Tom Nolan Distinguished Coach Award by the Louisiana Track and Field Coaches Association. This award recognizes a coach who "is or has made a difference in the lives of the student-athletes under his/her tutelage." In addition, the coach must embody the words many of Coach Tom Nolan's peers once used to describe him, which include “passion," "dignity," "integrity,” and "faithful," to name a few. Congratulations, Coach Trammel!

The sixth-graders in Mrs. Thelen's World Geography classes have been up to something exciting and creative. Over the past five weeks, students have researched and put together biography scrapbooks of notable and/or famous people with entries of their choice, including poems, obituaries, memories, diary entries, etc. Today they took turns passing them around the room for classmates to read and comment on!

At this morning's Author's Tea, Mrs. Martinez's first-graders took their turn reading their self-authored and illustrated books to parents in the theater. But -- there was a plot twist. 😏 Instead of tea, they celebrated with sherbet punch and a fancy toast!

Mrs. Singleton's first-graders were first up for Author's Tea this morning. Each student reads their own written and illustrated book to parents in the audience, then the class celebrates with a special tea party. Tomorrow Mrs. Martinez's class will take their turn!

In kindergarten, Martin set a goal for herself to memorize 10,000 digits before she graduated from Southfield -- and she did it! Congratulations to Martin and all the other Pi Day Winners:

Our Story

Welcome to Southfield School in Shreveport, Louisiana. We have been creating exceptional scholars since 1934. Southfield is known for fostering a life-long love of learning in our students.

We are a private, independent, and coeducational school serving Preschool-2 through Grade 8. We’re the only school in the region to receive the ISAS Accreditation. We are also the only area private school to offer Variable Tuition, a sliding scale program that takes into account factors such as income, family size, and military status (we offer a military discount of $1,000 per child).

Southfield School offers an integrated STEAM curriculum (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics). Our students receive a minimum of 310 minutes of instruction across art, science, math, French, Spanish, and PE.

Southfield’s outstanding academic program gives middle school students an opportunity to earn high school credit. In 2019, 81 high school credits were earned by 40 students.

We build confidence in our students through a strong focus on public speaking and our students have at least 30 performance opportunities during their time at Southfield.
