Congratulations to our 2023 CYO Concerto Competition Winner: Violist, Noah Yang!!!
He will be performing the 1st movement of H. Casadesus/J. C. Bach-Concerto in C-Minor with CYO at one of our Spring Concerts. Our judging panel was complimentary of both he and all of his fellow competitors.
Way to go Noah!!

Cal Alexander, a student of Hurley Violin Faculty Laura Crawford, was chosen as a Young Artist Performer for the Violin Teachers' Symposium at Julliard! He and the Centenary Suzuki School received international acclaim through an article Laura wrote which was published in the International Suzuki Journal (check out pages 10-11)!

Last Saturday, we revived our traditional Viola-LA! It was a fun day with masterclasses, group classes, and snow cones for all our violists. We were honored to have Dr. Sparr, the viola professor at LSU, with us! Looking forward to the 2023 edition!

The mighty Symphony No. 9 by Beethoven opens our season with tenor and Louisiana native Paul Groves, soprano Sarah Rees, GRAMMY-Award winning mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung, bass-baritone Dennis Jesse and the Centenary College Choir, Cane River Singers, FUMCS Chamber Choir and Prisma Vocal Ensemble.
Mr. Groves and Ms. DeYoung kick off the evening with arias and duets, including Una furtiva lagrima and O sole mio.

Congratulations to Cal Alexander, one of the finalists of the Cooper Violin Competition! He will be playing Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with Orchestra during the final. The concert will be live streamed, it starts at 7:30 PM CST and he is last, after intermission, probably about 9:15pm. He started in our program at age 4 and is currently studying with Laura Crawford, Jan Sloman of Dallas, and Itzhak Perlman for the last three summers at the Perlman Music Program.
