While we’ve loved welcoming our new Nurse Anesthesia Cohort of 2029, they aren’t the only new DNP students beginning an exciting journey with us!

We almost forgot to share! We may be running a tad bit behind, but we couldn’t miss the opportunity to showcase our amazing students! 💜

On August 7th, our NSU Nurse Anesthesia juniors and seniors attended the Invasive & Regional Simulation Skills Lab at the Willis-Knighton Innovation Center in Shreveport.

Our students had the opportunity to practice and simulate several essential anesthesia skills, including epidural and spinal placement, arterial line insertion, and ultrasound-guided central line placement. They also demonstrated proper sterile technique, including the correct donning of sterile gowns and gloves.

A special thank you to our senior SRNAs who helped with the skills lab and shared their knowledge and experience with our junior cohort! One of the most rewarding parts of our program is seeing our cohorts learn from one another and share their educational and clinical experiences throughout their nurse anesthesia journey. 💜💉🩺

We are proud of our students and grateful for another day of hands-on learning, teamwork, and growth!

💜 Welcome, Cohort of 2028! 💜

On August 20, 2026, our NSU Nurse Anesthesia Cohort of 2028 gathered on our Natchitoches campus for their Meet & Greet!

It was so exciting to finally see all of their faces in person! We spent time mingling, getting to know one another, catching up, and sharing our excitement for the upcoming courses, clinical experiences, and opportunities that await them throughout the program.

You could truly feel the excitement in the room as this amazing group begins their nurse anesthesia journey together! 💜🩺

We are so excited for everything ahead and cannot wait to watch them learn, grow, and become future CRNAs!

🩺 Hands-On Learning in Action! 💉🔬

Our Nurse Anesthesia students spent August 8–9 with Maverick Medical Education for an incredible Regional Anesthesia Course and POCUS Lab at the Willis-Knighton Innovation Center!

Our Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs) had the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with cadavers while practicing regional anesthesia techniques and nerve blocks—taking their understanding of anatomy and ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia to the next level.

As an added bonus, students also sharpened their Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) skills, gaining valuable experience with ultrasound techniques that continue to expand the role of the CRNA in perioperative care.

It was a fun-filled weekend packed with hands-on learning, skill development, and plenty of scanning! We are grateful to Maverick Medical Education and the Willis-Knighton Innovation Center for helping provide such an outstanding educational experience for our future CRNAs! 💜🩺

Good morning!

We were excited to welcome our newest members of the NSU Nurse Anesthesia Program to the Alexandria and Shreveport campuses yesterday for their NURG 5700 Advanced Assessment Open Lab!

The students had the opportunity to get their feet wet with airway assessment and management skills under the guidance of Dr. Olivier and Dr. Williams. It was a great start to their journey into nurse anesthesia education, and we are thrilled to be a part of their professional growth.

We look forward to working with this outstanding group of students and can't wait to watch them learn, develop, and succeed throughout the program. Welcome to the NSU Nurse Anesthesia family!
