This is what Cloe has to say about her senior fellowship!

Why I chose CT:
I chose CT for my fellowship because I love the variety of exams you get to perform and how fast paced it can be. I also really like that you get to interact with other members of the healthcare team such as respiratory therapists and nurses a lot in CT. It’s also a rewarding feeling to know that a CT potentially saved the life of someone who came in with a stroke or trauma.

We’re excited for you, Cloe!!🥳💜

01/12/2023

Hear what Alexis Edwards has to say about her senior fellowship!

“I chose CT because I love the faster pace and that the scans show more detail of what could possibly be going on within the patient.”

We’re so excited, Alexis!!🥳💜

01/11/2023

Madeline Stephenson shares how she will spend her senior fellowship: “I chose to rotate through diagnostic x-ray and CT this semester. I love the opportunity x-ray gives me to do so many different types of procedures throughout the day such as surgery and fluroscopy. I learn something new everytime I do a surgery or fluroscopy case. I chose CT because it is fast paced and teaches me so much more about the body and its capabilities.”

We’re so excited for you Madeline!🥳💜

Cassidy Smith chose computed tomography for her fellowship! Here’s why: “I chose CT because I have always found it so interesting and now being able to learn a little more in depth makes it so much more exciting. One thing I love about this modality is that it is fast paced at times and you make a connection with patients when they are frequent.”

We’re so proud of you, Cassidy!!🥳💜

01/11/2023

Hear what Daniel Holden has to say about his senior fellowship! “The reason I chose radiation therapy is because it is a bit more challenging to me, and I feel like I have a real impact with helping patients become better. The thing that I like the most about this modality is I get to see the same patients every day, and gain a relationship with them.”

We’re so proud of you Daniel!!🥳💜

01/10/2023

My name is Kylie Ryland and I am doing my fellowship in Radiation Therapy! I chose this as my modality of choice because I want to create long lasting connections with patients and serve as a critical care provider during their journey!

We’re so excited for you, Kylie!!🥳💜

01/10/2023

Our seniors began their clinical rotations in their chosen modality this week!! 🤗💜

Hear what Alexis Peterson has to say about her modality! “I chose radiation therapy because it is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and I am grateful to be able to do my fellowship under this modality. One thing I like about this modality is how quick the treatments are, and even though there are side effects, the benefits usually outweigh the risk. I love being able to help others, and this modality allows me to do that.”

We’re so proud of you, Alexis!!🥳

Congratulations to Celena Avery for completing her BASAH degree with NSU!!!

Celena Avery is from Lake Charles, Louisiana. She previously obtained her practical nursing degree from Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2014. She currently works for Behavioral Health Group as the Nursing Supervisor where she has been employed since 2017.

Here is what Celena wanted to say!

I have a passion for leadership and management that provides high-quality patient care. My future plan is to become a healthcare administrator. I would like to thank NSULA for this amazing opportunity. My professors were remarkable, and the faculty was always helpful. I would also like to thank my son for his constant motivation, and my husband for his continuous encouragement. To my family and friends, thank you for the support and love.

Congratulations to Tanner Deaton for completing his RT to BSRS degree with NSU! Tanner obtained his Associates in Biological Sciences from Northeast Mississippi Community College and his Associates degree from Itawamba Community College and now has his BSRS degree from Northwestern State University. Tanner is currently a traveling CT technologist with Aya Healthcare. He has been traveling for two years, and I has been a CT technologist since December 2018. Tanner absolutely love being able to travel the country, create new friendships, and observe how hospitals and imaging departments function.

Some of Tanner’s Career Goals with new degree - Obtaining a BSRS from NSULA opens many doors for my future. He has debated upon which direction I would like to take my career - PA, medical dosimetrist, or management. During my capstone project, he discovered a facet of healthcare that he is very passionate about. Efficiency. Throughout my travels, Tanner has seen aspects of radiology department that are almost perfect, and others that are glaring detriments to department efficiency. Armed with the combination of my personal experience and newfound knowledge of leadership, management, and process improvement learned while attending NSU, Tanner would like to pursue a career as a healthcare consultant specializing in radiology department process improvements. This will allow me to have an impact on department efficiency, employee morale, and patient care in multiple facilities.

Tanner’s Thoughts on time at NSU - I have enjoyed my time spent in NSU's BSRS program. All of my instructors responded quickly to my questions with very detailed answers. They always maintained an "open-door" type of policy and never made me feel like a burden for reaching out. Over the past four semesters, I have gained a better understanding of conflict resolution, management styles, and process improvement methodologies. This information will be greatly beneficial during my future career as a healthcare consultant.

Congratulations to Laura White for completing her RT to BSRS degree with NSU!

Some things Laura wanted to say about NSU- I enjoyed my time at NSULA. The faculty was easy to work with and very friendly and helpful. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to complete the Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences program!

Way to go, Laura!

Her future plans are to be a Radiology Instructor or Coordinator in the future and to possibly acquire certifications in other modalities.

Allison stated, “I’m so grateful for the people I love the most & I wouldn’t have done it without God, my family, close friends, & professors! Thank you to all those who helped me in this journey.”
