We invite you to join us at the 2021 LSU Health Shreveport Allied Health Alumni Reunion, Saturday, August 14th, in Shreveport, Louisiana. The event will take place at the Shreveport Convention Center, 400 Caddo Street, with events from 9am to 2:30pm. Below are details to explore. All events are optional, so feel free to join in on the activities that excite you!

Time: 9am to 2:30pm
Place: Shreveport Convention Center | 400 Caddo Street, Shreveport, Louisiana

Schedule of Events:
9am to 9:50am: Alumni & Faculty Breakfast Mingle | Room 205 | No cost to Alumni, $10 for non-Alumni guests

10am to 11:30am: Commencement Ceremony | Captain Shreve Ballroom | No cost, guests welcome

12pm to 2:30pm: Alumni Reunion | Red River Board Room | Lunch & Open Beer/Wine Bar | $25 per person

Accommodations: Hilton Downtown Shreveport; the newly remodeled Hilton Downtown Shreveport is the official reunion hotel. Special rates are reserved for alumni at $109 (+tax) per night. Space is limited so book soon!

Last year we were unable to host an in-person commencement ceremony due to COVID-19, so we are thrilled to invite any alumni that wish to walk across the stage and share in that memorable experience. If you choose to walk, you have the option of ordering regalia through the LSUHS Bookstore. Please contact Melissa Johnson at [email protected] for more details. The deadline to order regalia will be July 16th. Regalia is not required to participate and will be at additional cost if you elect to order.

Last but not least, as we reflect back on the past year, we want you to know how incredibly grateful we are to you. As a healthcare team member, you have played an invaluable part in helping navigate and overcome the trials we have all endured through the pandemic. Keep calling and writing! Your letters and messages are making a difference. :) We are asking everyone to take just a second to send an email describing what your typical day as a PA looks like. (Just a few sentences; no need to give an hour-by-hour accounting, lol.) We want legislators to realize what we do day-in and day-out, that we make decisions about patient care, that we often have our own patient rosters, and that we practice with a large amount of autonomy already. Ask your reps to support HB 442 today. Thank you all!!!

***CALL TO ACTION*** As promised, here is the next link to click to support the bill. Yes, we need you to do it again! The bill has at LEAST 4 major stops, and we are only past the 1st one. We need vocal support and numbers the ENTIRE way through. It is a long process, but with your support, it will be worth it. This link includes an email option, but also a phone-to-action. PLEASE call your legislators. You will get in touch with an admin assistant and can either simply read back some of the talking points to her or craft your own message. The link will automatically connect you with your representatives - you don't need to look up any numbers or emails!!! It took me less than 5 minutes and picking up the phone to call gets a lot more attention than an email (although you can do both :) ). Please advocate for your profession today. Feel free to share with friends, family, and your patients.
