SOAR has come and gone once again!
This past week, the Class of 2030 and their families were invited onto campus to meet with current students, first-year advisors, faculty, and staff. Students registered for classes, learned about campus resources, and met with various clubs, organizations, and departments. Thanks to the leadership of Dean Mark Miller and Assistant Director of Student Involvement Willisa Gaut, these newest members of our Centenary community can feel confident in their choice to join us!
Special shoutout to all the current students who served as members of the SOAR Leadership Team and as our SOAR Mentors! Without them, SOAR would never be the success it always is.

We are so proud of our alumni who, as Louisiana Life so aptly put it, “have gone on to make significant contributions in business, government, religion, science, and the arts.”
Check out this great post about our beloved Centenary. Thank you, Louisiana Life!
Centenary College holds a unique place in Louisiana history as the state's oldest chartered liberal arts college. Founded in 1825, the institution has educated generations of leaders, educators, ministers, and professionals while helping shape the intellectual development of Louisiana.
The historic campus in Shreveport features beautiful architecture, tree-lined pathways, and buildings that reflect more than a century of educational tradition. Walking through the grounds offers a glimpse into the evolution of higher education in the South.
Throughout its history, the college survived economic hardships, wars, and social change while continuing its mission of education. Alumni have gone on to make significant contributions in business, government, religion, science, and the arts.
Today, the campus remains one of the most beautiful historic educational settings in Louisiana and a symbol of the state's commitment to learning.
Its long history and architectural character make it one of north Louisiana's most important landmarks.

🔗 Career Connection for Centenary Alumni🔗
A respected local nonprofit organization recently reached out to the Office of Alumni and Family Relations to see if we knew of any Centenary alumni who might be interested in an upcoming Accountant position.
The opportunity has not yet been publicly advertised, but we wanted to share it with our alumni community first. If you have an accounting background—or know a fellow Centenary graduate who might be a good fit—please send us a direct message or contact our office ([email protected]) for additional information.
One of the greatest strengths of the Centenary network is alumni helping alumni, and we're always glad to make those connections.

Alumni Spotlight✨
We’re proud to celebrate Steve Weddle ’92, who recently shared that he has begun a new role as Executive Director of the Virginia Press Association.
Steve is not only a passionate advocate for journalism and local news, he’s also an accomplished author whose novels have garnered national recognition.
His publications include 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘭, which was praised by the New York Times as “downright dazzling,” and his novel 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘺 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘦, an Amazon First Reads selection.
From a Centenary classroom to the Commonwealth of Virginia, Steve’s career is a powerful example of how stories can shape communities and create a lasting impact.
Congratulations on this exciting new chapter, Steve!
