At Eden Gardens Magnet School, we believe in cultivating leadership, and we are excited to share two important staffing shifts that reflect the strength of our leadership pipeline!

🎉 Mrs. Nelson will transition from her role as Lighthouse Coordinator to serve as our new Instructional Coordinator. Her passion for student success, teacher support, and continuous improvement has helped our school thrive, and we know she will make an incredible impact in this new leadership role.

🎉 Ms. Pettis will transition from 4th Grade Math Teacher to Lighthouse Coordinator. As a dedicated educator and leader, she has inspired students to grow academically while modeling the leadership habits we value at The Garden. With 13 years of experience inspiring young artists across Caddo Parish, Mrs. Welch brings a masterpiece of talent, creativity, and imagination to The Garden as she follows the incredible legacy of Mrs. Kristi Wren, who has retired. From teaching K-6 Talented Visual Art at 12 different schools to creating beautiful pottery sold in boutiques across the country, her artistic touch is truly one of a kind! 🎨🏺

But wait…there’s more! 📚✨ Mrs. Welch is also a children’s author and illustrator! Her second picture book, Pelican Lake — a swampy twist on Swan Lake — will be released this September! 🦢🐊

When she’s not painting with watercolors or working magic in her home art studio, she enjoys spending time with her family and cheering on her two Byrd Yellow Jackets, Jackson and Audrey, who is headed to UAB this fall! 🐝🎓

Mrs. Welch says she can’t wait to “fire up the kiln and have some colorful creative fun,” and we know our students are going to LOVE creating alongside her! 🎨🔥🌈

EGM is thrilled to welcome Mrs. White as our new 5th Grade Science & Social Studies teacher for the 2026-2027 school year! She will be stepping into the role previously held by Ms. Zara Collins, who is beginning a new adventure in Colorado. 🏔️💚

With an incredible 19 years in education, Mrs. White brings a wealth of experience, but if there’s one thing she knows how to do, it’s keep learning exciting, engaging, and full of discovery. 🔎✨

Timika has been married for three years to Bill White, and together, they share three amazing children- ages 25, 26, and 30. When she’s not inspiring students, you can find her reading mystery novels, gardening, refurbishing old furniture, or enjoying live music. 🎶🌻📖 She also loves learning random new facts… so our students better get ready for some FUN classroom conversations!

Mrs. White says she is most excited about meeting her new students, joining the Eden Gardens family, and diving into a new curriculum and grade level. We already know her passion, experience, and joyful spirit are going to make 5th grade AMAZING this year!

With 23 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Rossi brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and heart to the classroom. She has taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades across multiple subjects, but Math is where her heart is! We are thrilled that she will be leading our 4th-grade mathematicians this year as she steps into the role previously held by Ms. Kerrigan Pettis, who is beginning a new role as our Lighthouse Coordinator.

Mrs. Rossi and her husband, David, are proud parents of two daughters, Madeline and Katherine, both fellow LSU Tigers! When she’s not solving math problems or inspiring students, she enjoys reading and traveling with her family.

We are so excited for the joy, experience, and enthusiasm Mrs. Rossi will bring to Eden Gardens Elementary Magnet School. Get ready, EGM — 4th-grade math is adding up to be an amazing year! 🧮💙💛

🏖️ ‘Summer vibes and bittersweet goodbyes’ was the theme of our end-of-year staff celebration in The Garden. We wrapped up another amazing school year and bid adieu to some very special friends who will bloom elsewhere this fall.

Happy retirement to Mrs. Erwin, Mrs. Wren, and Mrs. Simmons! And farewell to Ms. Collins, who will be relocating to beautiful Colorado and Madame Sabine, who will return to Belgium, as her two-year working visa comes to an end. You all will be sorely missed!

🚦🚧🚗 We’d like to thank Mr. Bullock for his help directing our carpool traffic throughout this school year! At the start of the school year, he emailed and asked Dr. Gipson if it would be okay for him to help out, but no one expected him to do so ALL YEAR LONG.
