Thank You to Royal Party Rentals!

Thank you, Royal Party Rentals, for providing the tables and kid-sized tables and chairs for the Educational Fun Zone at the STROLL Long Lake Launch Party on August 15, 2026.

Your team was professional, accommodating, and easy to work with throughout the process. The quality and presentation of the rental items helped create a welcoming and engaging environment for the children.

The kid-sized tables and chairs were especially perfect for our Butterfly Craft Station. The children were able to sit comfortably at their own tables while creating their butterfly crafts, and the setup made the activity feel like a special space designed just for them. The colorful, child-friendly furniture was visually appealing and fit beautifully with the educational and creative atmosphere of the event.

It was wonderful to see the children gathered around the tables, engaged in their projects, and enjoying the experience. The furniture wasn’t simply functional—it helped make the activity area inviting, organized, and fun for the children.

We’re incredibly grateful to Shreve Memorial Library for their generous donation of brand new Eric Carle books to support our Children’s Educational Fun Zone at the STROLL Long Lake Launch Party on August 15th. This community event will be at the Country Village Event Center in Shreveport, LA from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm.

Several of these wonderful books will be included in a special Educator’s Heart Consulting giveaway gift basket that will be given to one lucky family during the event.

From At-Risk of Retention to Success

Earlier this year, a parent contacted me because her third-grade daughter was at risk of retention under Louisiana's literacy promotion requirements.
The student was struggling with foundational reading skills and lacked confidence in her ability to read independently.

Under Louisiana's literacy legislation, third-grade students must demonstrate reading proficiency on the DIBELS literacy screener in order to be promoted to fourth grade. For many families, this assessment carries significant weight because students who score in the lowest performance category may face retention if they do not meet promotion requirements.

When I began working with this student, she was struggling academically and, more importantly, beginning to lose confidence in herself as a learner. Like many students who experience reading difficulties, she had started to doubt her abilities.
Over approximately two months, we focused on building the foundational literacy skills she needed to become a stronger reader.

Our work included:
✅ Strengthening phonemic awareness and phonics skills
✅ Mastering short and long vowel sounds
✅ Learning to blend sounds together to read complete words rather than isolating individual sounds
✅ Building reading fluency and automaticity
✅ Developing confidence through consistent encouragement and individualized instruction

What made the greatest difference was not simply teaching reading skills—it was helping her believe that she could be successful.
As her confidence grew, her willingness to take academic risks increased. Reading became less intimidating. Learning became more enjoyable. Most importantly, she began seeing herself as a capable learner.
I am proud to share that she successfully PASSED her assessment and advanced with renewed confidence in her abilities.
Stories like this remind me why personalized learning matters. Behind every assessment score is a child who deserves support, encouragement, and instruction tailored to their unique needs.
Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. For Louisiana families navigating third grade literacy requirements, early intervention and targeted reading support can make a significant difference in student outcomes. I am here to make that difference every opportunity I get.
