Back to School Night will take place in-person on Thursday, August 31 from 5:45-7:15pm.

The event will begin at 5:45pm, so please arrive early enough to be in your student's first hour class by 5:45. Parking is limited, so we encourage you to carpool if possible. Please utilize the main student parking lot until it's full. Please do not park on Viking Drive. Overflow parking will be available with a Caddo bus shuttle from Stoner Boat Launch.

Report to your student's first hour. There you will receive a map of the school and a copy of their schedule. Magnet students will be present to direct you from class to class if you need help!

If your student has a Career Center class, please report to the library during that block to visit their Career Center representative. If your student has Career Center 1st hour, please report to the library when you arrive on campus.

CMHS PTSA will be selling Magnet gear by the cafeteria before the event, from 5:15-5:40.

Join us Tuesday, August 29 for the start of volleyball season! We will be on a Pep Rally bell schedule on Tuesday, August 29. Directly after school, there will be a tailgate in the courtyard. The varsity game vs. Woodlawn will begin at 5:00 in the gym, and JV will play after.

Thank you to our Class of 2023! The senior class of 2023’s gift to the school was the addition of a seating/courtyard area between A and C wings. Once it cools down, A wing and C wing classes will be able to enjoy time outside! If you haven’t seen it, check out the senior class of 2023 mural by the front office.

Congratulations to Magnet tennis player Natalie Sin who placed 3rd this weekend in the Razorback Junior Classic Tennis Tournament in Arkansas! Natalie competed in the Girls 16s Singles at the Level 5 Open.

Wednesday August 2nd from 5-8pm, Caddo Magnet High School Volleyball is hosting a one day skills camp for girls entering 6th-8th grade.

The day will focus on individual skills, team concepts and LOTS OF FUN! The camp is intended for all levels of play. Campers should wear athletic clothing and knee pads if available.

Welcome, Class of 2027! We had fun this week welcoming our incoming freshmen at Great Expectations. We were able to meet about 85% of the class of 2027 over the course of the week!

Students took tours of campus, met upperclassmen, teachers, administrators, and staff, received information about the start of school, and even got to play some games.

Parents, please check your email to fill out our feedback survey and read some final details.

Congratulations to Maya Trutschl! Maya placed first in the Louisiana 2022-2023 ArcGIS Online High School Competition with her StoryMap, “Echoes From Beyond: The Yellow Fever of 1873." While researching her topic Maya posed the question, “What lessons can we learn about the history of disease outbreaks and their impact on the community from the yellow fever epidemic and the mass grave located in Oakland Cemetery in Shreveport?”

Congratulations to Marcus Alonzo, Renaye Harris, Bhavya Sarda, and Arisha Sultana, who traveled to Washington, DC to compete in the 2023 JLAB US Army JROTC Academic Bowl Championship. Our team was the only team representing Louisiana, having advanced from a pool of over 1,800 teams across the nation.

The team placed 4th overall out of the 32 Army JROTC teams competing, and a total of 64 teams from all branches of service!

Congratulations to the team and their sponsor! We are so proud of you!

Last week, Magnet Quiz Bowl held its 2nd annual Summer Camp. We were joined by an incredible group of kids who learned the game and improved a ton over three days. Congratulations to team Yellow 1, which swept through the playoffs on the final tournament day to win the championship. The final with team Red 3 went down to the last tossup question. We hope to see many of these folks in practice next year! Great work, Magnet Quiz Bowl!

Please join us in congratulating our Quiz Bowl team! This year, for the first time, Magnet Quiz Bowl took two teams to nationals in Atlanta, Georgia. The B team had a 5-5 record, which is an amazing showing!

The A team went into elimination rounds with an 8-2 record and after several exciting rounds, left the competition tied for 21st out of over 300 teams.

Andrew Minagar, A team captain, was the 27th highest individual scorer out of over 1500 players!

The results at this years Quiz Bowl Nationals mark the best Magnet has ever performed. Way to go, teams! Andrew Minagar, Gil Pedrotty, Johnny Zheng, David Zhu, and Parker Alleman, Elliott Kerouac, Alex Minagar, and Marshall O’Callaghan. Congratulations to sponsor coaches Amanda Lawrence and Andrew Medlin.
