🎉 Exciting news! 🎉 Caddo Magnet is so happy to announce our National Merit Semifinalists for 2020-2021! William Brice, Luke Crittell, Cadence Crumpton, Zoha Ibrahim, Sai Javalkar, Sarah Johnson, Hannah McGuire, Ashini Modi, Abigail Nickelson, John Henry Nelson, Ruhani Sachdeva, Jonathan Woldie, Evelyn Zhang.

All of these students are members of the class of 2022. Congratulations!!

There are approximately 16,000 semifinalists named from all across the nation. These semifinalists are now eligible to apply for roughly 7,500 National Merit scholarships that will be announced in the spring. These semifinalists excelled on the 2020 PSAT/NMSQT.

Caddo Magnet Quiz Bowl finished 6-2 and tied for 5th place out of 29 teams at the Texas Quiz Bowl Jamboree this Saturday. With this showing, they qualify for the National Championship in May. The team was led by captain Andy Minagar, who finished as the second highest scorer in the tournament. Fellow A-team members Alex Minagar and David Zhu performed impressively, as well as Grace Bodily, Marshall O’Callaghan, Devesh Sarda, Parker Alleman, and Elliott Kerouac. The team is coached by Mrs Lawrence and Mr Medlin.

🎉 congratulations to our newest 3️⃣6️⃣ers! 🎉 Ashini Modi, John Henry Nelson, and Nhi Dao all scored 36 on the ACT over the summer, the highest possible score. Not only did each student earn a composite score of 36, but they each also scored perfect 36s on each subsection of the test! This is an incredible accomplishment! Nhi, John Henry, and Ashini bring Magnet’s total number of perfect ACT scores since the 15-16 school year to 22! Way to go!

If you’re at the store this weekend, consider picking up some supplies to help South Louisianans impacted by Hurricane Ida. We will be collecting items in the PAC foyer next week to be delivered to Arthur Circle Elementary. Distribution will be overseen by the United Way of Northwest Louisiana.

[09/04/21]   Prayers for the family of retired Magnet High teacher Mr. Percy Joshua.

Funeral services for Mr. Joshua will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 11:00 am in the chapel of Good Samaritan Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery.

Mr. Joshua was a valued faculty member and later a reliable substitute for many years. He will be missed!

It pains our district to see the devastation caused by Hurricane Ida. To help our neighbors, Caddo Schools is using available space at Arthur Circle Elementary School (261 Arthur Ave.) in partnership with United Way of Northwest Louisiana and VOAD (Volunteers Organizations Active in Disaster) to collect needed supplies for local evacuees in the Shreveport Bossier area.

Donations are welcome from the public Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Friday, Sept. 10. Donations cannot be collected on weekends or Monday, Sept. 6 due to Labor Day.

Below are the supplies most needed:
- Socks
- Underwear
- Toiletries
- Blankets/comforters
- Nonperishable snacks

You won’t want to miss this! Tuesday, August 31, our CMHS Lady Mustangs Volleyball team will play Many at Magnet. The game starts at 5 and admission is free for students. Right after school we will have a tailgate in the courtyard from 4-5. Games, music, and free food (burgers, chips, and drinks)! Seniors are encouraged to wear their new shirts, and everyone else should wear their Magnet gear too! Stay for the games and cheer on our incredible volleyball players!

We’re so excited about our updated recycling plan! Please watch the video to find out more. Thank you to our awesome Greens Club volunteers and sponsor Mrs. Procell for all of their hard work making recycling happen at Magnet, and thank you to Rhino Coffee for partnering with us on our compost project!

The highlights:
-cans and bottles (minus caps) will go in the green recycling bins
-bottle caps will go in the buckets to be used for an art project
-paper will go in the boxes to be shredded and composted
-everything else goes in the trash cans

Graduates (or parents) can come during this time too (11:30-12:30).

There are a few extra books for purchase, but they can’t be claimed until most of the pre-orders have been picked up. Email Mrs Youngblood ([email protected]) to get on the waiting list if you didn’t already purchase a yearbook. They will be $60. If you can’t pick up your book on Friday, contact Mrs Youngblood for alternate times.
