Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. congratulates Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on her confirmation to the United States Supreme Court.
The confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court of the United States is a moment of tremendous pride for the members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Black women everywhere. Her brilliant legal mind, sound judicial temperament, and remarkable work ethic are greatly needed on the nation’s highest court at this critical moment in history.
Judge Jackson is far from the first Black woman who possessed the talent, training, and temperament necessary to serve as a Supreme Court justice. Others who came before her saw their path to this most venerated position blocked because of their race and gender, yet Black women continue to rise through it all. Justice Jackson’s confirmation today honors the careers and sacrifices of legal luminaries such as Sadie T.M. Alexander, Constance Baker Motley, Barbara Jordan, Lani Guinier, and Loretta Lynch.
President Joe Biden and the U.S Senate are to be commended for nominating and confirming this gifted jurist. Her elevation makes real the promise of equal justice under law.

Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson has proven that she is unequivocally qualified to serve on the Supreme Court in the three days she has sat before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
She is one of the brightest legal minds in the country, with a well-rounded set of experiences in the legal system and judiciary that will make her an exceptional Supreme Court Justice.
We look forward to day 4 of the confirmation hearing, where more voices, including Soror @repbeatty , will lend their support in favor of this historic nomination.

Aunjanue Ellis has created an incredible career for herself that speaks volumes.
Ellis is a groundbreaking actress who has stood at the frontline of breaking barriers for what Black artists can do on screen. She has been a part of many groundbreaking moments in film. She starred in one of the first sci-fi driven productions with an all African American cast, “Love Craft Country,” and portrayed epic historical figures like Nat Turner's mother in The Birth of A Nation. Most recently, Ellis starred in King Richard, and her brilliant performance earned her nominations from the Academy Awards, the Golden Globe Awards, and the Critic's Choice Awards, amongst others.
DREF's Literary Jam event on March 19th celebrates the contributions that Black women have made to literature, art, music, film, and TV. We are thrilled to have Aunjanue as an Honorary chairperson of the event. This event is going to be powerful!

On March 3, 1913, the 22 Founders of Delta Sigma Theta marched down Pennsylvania Avenue to pursue voting rights. Despite attempts at blocking their participation and efforts to relegate them to the rear because of race, they marched on. Because of their sheer determination, Delta Sigma Theta can celebrate 22 of our members actively working throughout the Biden-Harris Administration 109 years later.
It's always Delta Days in the Nation's Capital!
